And these constitutional changes were supported by the Russian people in a referendum. Zelenskyy didn't hold any referendum. All his claims of popular support are unsubstantiated.

According to the constitution, in the absence of an elected president, powers devolve to the Speaker of the Rada.

ONLY the POWERS of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine are extended not president. Zelensky may hold the presidency until the elections, but not exercise POWERS.
