@ShannonGaitz Compelling sure, but it makes me incredibly sad. A testament to the worth society places on winning vs. experience. It feels like a symptom of developed countries with significant wealth disparity that someone feels this much pressure playing a game.
We live in cities where unhoused ppl are left to live in freezing cold tents that are bulldozed down + attacked by police … and then we’re shocked by a group of teen girls kill an unhoused man, like his life didn’t matter + we wonder where they may ever have gotten that idea?
I'm an extremely stupid person. That's why I see no difference between silencing journalists who make accurate criticisms about a billionaire, and grifters who tell people to take horse paste during a global pandemic, leaving them intubated and in pain for their final goodbyes.
Doug Ford has chosen the hard, nasty, constitution-smashing, anti-worker, labour rights-crushing way.
Now he’ll have to live with the political and economic consequences of his disastrous governance.
This is on him. Solidarity with workers.
Lovely man at the bar strikes up a convo with me about beer.
Dude behind the bar cuts me off and takes over the convo.
Nice to know this doesn't just happen to me in Canada (I'm currently not in Canada).
*Sigh*
Whenever I post anything about the cops, my replies are constantly filled with people who are like "NOT ALL COPS." So l tried to put together a cogent analogy to help them understand why it IS ALL COPS. 🧵/x
I was just asked to be on The National to discuss Roe and abortion...and then I found out it would be a panel with a "pro-life/anti-abortion" voice. I am livid and sent this reply. I couldn't care less if this means I will not be asked back to the CBC. It needed to be said.
@wendellholland Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer was published in 2003 - highly recommended read. A very well written, harrowing account of life in the FLDS. Reading up on the Lost Boys of the FLDS is a whole other thing. Polygamy does not work out well for young boys, either.
Entire businesses having to shut down because too many or all of their staff have covid seems like a good reason to have your mask on at work or when you go into crowded places.
How is this good for the economy, again?
Just sayin'...
Things are not getting better.
