Let’s just wait until the Nurse trade ACTUALLY happens until we write the obituary on his Oiler tenure.
If there’s something Oiler fans have learned over the past 6 months - it’s to not count the chickens before they hatch.
The NHLPA has asked the NHL to move forward with an investigation into the allegations Mike Babcock invaded players privacy during his time in Columbus.
Sources: The Edmtn Oilers are consulting with the NHLPA to see if there are objections that must be resolved before potentially hiring Mike Babcock. Amid allegations of invading players privacy, Babcock resigned in CBJ as Head Coach in 2023. Further investigation may be required.
Yeah no for sure, Knoblauch fumbling his staff hires, lack of accountability and in-game adjustments and getting called out by his two best players were definitely managements fault!!
personally would have hired Knoblauch a new (full time!) defensive coach and given him a more capable roster/goaltending situation. but management's got to blame someone!
I think Edmonton's skater group was good enough to win the Pacific and make it to the WCF. The fact it didn't is largely because of coaching, IMO. But, the goal should be a cup, and the roster was far inferior to COL/CAR/etc. Mgmt. has somehow made the goaltending worse. And...
MAT-THEW SCHAE-FER 👏👏👏👏👏 #NHLAwards
The @NYIslanders’ 2025 No. 1 #NHLDraft pick, Matthew Schaefer, is this year’s Calder Memorial Trophy winner — an award presented to the player who was the most proficient in his first year in the League.
Announcing the Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award finalists... 🏆 #NHLAwards
This award is presented annually to recognize the work of the top general manager in the NHL.
League sources say #Oilers have sought permission to interview Bruce Cassidy as they contemplate significant coaching staff changes.
To this point, sources say @GoldenKnights have withheld permission from division rival.
Gamesmanship? Perhaps. Mostly unprecedented for role.
Frank Seravalli: Re Connor McDavid: That two year deal isn't really a two year deal, it's a one year deal...then you reach the question of are you extending...if the answer is I don't know, I don't know how they have any other choice but to try and trade him - Flames Talk (5/4)
*team shouts out their player for being snubbed from a regular season award*
“Yeah actually you shouldn’t be doing that because your team had a disappointing playoff performance”
The vibes are awful in Oil Country, let them positively support their guy.
Wow.
Steve Simmons says he spoke to 20 people around the league. 1 supported the Chayka hiring, 19 said it was a "sham" and called Chayka a "con artist," "liar," "salesman"
Nobody around the league respects Chayka. Wow. 😬
What is the point of this tweet?
Player calls out a team for a disappointing season and you’re immediately chanting “doomsday”?
God sometimes the national media in this sport absolutely blows.
It’s interesting that our only focus seems to be on what 97 will decide to do, whether that’s this summer or next or whenever. And it’s obviously because he only has a 2-year deal. But I mean, nothing is stopping Leon Draisaitl from asking out one day if that’s what he wanted. Not saying he will nor do I have any feeling he will. But just because he signed an 8-year deal doesn’t mean he will necessarily play it out all in Edmonton.
One of the most damning things from Knoblauch’s availability was his belief that Trent Frederic’s role should be as a 3rd/4th liner going forward.
One of the top priorities of the next HC needs to be returning Frederic to form.
