The Water Resources Authority @WRA_KEN has just sent us a "borehole water bill" claiming we've used 155 cubic metres and must pay Kshs. 22k.
My question is: where did these figures come from when there isn't even a meter installed on the borehole to measure usage?
@WRA_KEN When I called for clarification, I was told, "Water belongs to the government."
Fair enough—but shouldn't any charges be based on actual, measurable consumption rather than figures pulled out of thin air?
Can WRA explain how this borehole water bills are calculated and justified?
Are they estimating, guessing, or simply assigning numbers?
We already pay electricity bills to pump this water, along with the many taxes and levies imposed on businesses. Now we're being charged again for water drawn from our own borehole.
