After 28 years McMurphy's Uptown Tavern has closed their doors in their long time location! The last drink was poured yesterday! But they are not going away, they are moving directly across the street! Come support them in there new bigger & renovated location this week!
McMurphy's Uptown Tavern to move into their new location in March! The plan is to vacate their current location during spring break week & open their new location across the street. So sadly only a few weeks remain to visit their legendary location before they vacate it for good.

As McMurphy’s Uptown Tavern prepares to move across the street new signs are now up at their new future location. Work continues inside with a TBD opening date in the new location. Until then they continue to be open business as usual in their current long term location.
Amherst Typewriter Shop free grab & go typewriters & supplies this Saturday 9-3pm. As they get ready to demolish the building that also houses McMurphy’s Uptown Tavern they are cleaning out the typewriter shop. 41N. Pleasant St. All free, first come first served.
CVS one of the few corporate franchisees in downtown Amherst is the only place downtown that had not cleared the snow from in front of their building or the walkway into their building. (As of 2pm) maybe it’s a marketing plan, slip & fall outside, then come in & buy first aid 😂
Amherst Typewriter Shop next to McMurphy’s was being cleaned out today into a van & will soon be empty in preparation for both places to be demolished.
They will still not serve food. Before opening in the new location new signs & some actetic work will need to be done to the inside (painting, cleaning, small repairs) they will also have a pool table. The new location is expected to open the first quarter or so of 2026. 3/3 🛑
🧵McMurphy's Tavern update! On 12/11 after an hour long open public hearing w/ the town zoning board & the manager of McMurphy's (Brian Stahl) the zoning board gave final approval for McMurphy's to move across the street to the spot previously occupied by White lion Brewery 1/3..
The vote was unanimous 5-0. The new space will have a capacity of 200 people w/ some outside patio seating. Patrons will enter in one door and there will be a separate door for the exit. The operating hours they can be open will not change in the new location, 11am-1am. 2/3...
@TheCursiveU@dpdoughamherst The typewriter store is also getting torn down. That store has not been open for a while. It’s been well over a year, maybe longer since they have been open.
As we posted here in June, McMurphy’s Tavern will be moving across the street to the space last occupied by White Lion Brewery. The building McMurphy’s Tavern is currently in will be demolished to make room for a mixed use building. The move will take place in early 2026.
Asian Taste opens in downtown Amherst. In the location previously occupied by Arigato Restaurant. 11 N. Pleasant St. menu looks great. Nice addition to downtown.
La Veracruzana Amherst has officially moved a block more into town to 104 N. Pleasant Street into the spot previously occupied by Uptown Tap & Grill next to CVS. Bigger spot, great outdoor seating space.
