I love interviews like this when actors reveal (in good spirit) that they were offered or auditioned for roles in a hit show/movie. Goes to show how everything works itself out.

Speedy: “Is it true that you were once offered the role Chris Tucker played in Rush Hour?”
Eddie Murphy: “Yes”
“Did I say Holy Man is one of my worst movies? That's the movie I did instead of Rush Hour. They came to me and it was two scripts. It was Rush Hour and it's gonna be an action comedy with Jackie Chan... and this other one was me in a robe in Miami”
“I was like, ‘Man…This is a no-brainer.’ We went to Miami and made a horrendous film”
