To my fellow Angelenos who want change, and are considering voting for Nithya Raman, I can assure you, she is not fit for the job, and she has no path to victory. A vote for Nithya is a vote for Karen Bass. I am ready to earn your vote and make LA feel safe for all.
@ZachWLambert What a dishonest thing you did by posting only the very top of his actual reply. You should be ashamed of yourself calling yourself a pastor. That’s dishonest, sad and completely manipulative.
Two things can be true at the same time. Many pastors and churches have hurt many people. With that being said, not every pastor and every church has done those things. Broken men and women have failed and hurt others, that doesn’t mean that God isn’t good. God is good and just. And because He’s good and just, there are still standards we’re all called to live by. One party traditionally tries to live lives worthy of that calling. Unfortunately, many times we don’t. The other party openly opposes those very standards that God calls us to live by. As a result of that, there’s even more broken and hurt people. Jesus is the answer regardless of all of this.
For Memorial Day, do yourself a favor and take three minutes of your time to listen to this Civil War letter from Maj. Sullivan Ballou to his wife.
I just started re-watching the Ken Burns series, which debuted in 1990 to a record-breaking audience of 40 million, for the first time since it originally aired.
While I had forgotten all of the specifics of the show over the years, I NEVER forgot this letter or this moment, which closed the first episode.
Burns kept a copy of the letter in his wallet for 25 years.
A doorbell camera captures two Soldiers—one a battle-hardened Sergeant Major, the other an officer—standing at a family’s door in full dress uniform. They wait with quiet dignity, heads up, eyes steady. The weight of what they’re there to do is written on their faces.
They’re not delivering good news.
As we approach Memorial Day, it’s easy to post flags and barbecues. But this is the real cost. Since our nation’s founding, as many as 1.4 million American service members have made the ultimate sacrifice—fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters—who never came home.
Every Gold Star family knows that knock. Every folded flag, every name on a wall, every empty seat at the table carries a story of love, duty, and unbearable loss.
Tonight I’m praying for every family who’s ever answered that door. For every name we must never forget. And for the brave men and women in uniform who still carry the hardest mission of all: telling a family their hero is gone.
We owe them everything.
Freedom isn’t free. It’s given by the blood of patriotic heroes.
Want to know what it sounded like during the launch of Flight 12 of Starship today?
Check out this video and the shaking of the windows. This was during my livestream with @esherifftv (Ellie in Space) at a ouse about 5 miles from the launch site.
Definitely have the volume up! Truly a powerful rocket ... the most powerful ever!
