Paying a traditional, non-shooting big man over 30 million dollars is a massive trap.
If you look at NBA history, teams only win titles spending big on centers in two scenarios:
- They either have a superstar offensive hub like Nikola Jokic or Karl-Anthony Towns taking up over 25 percent of the cap, or an elite floor-spacer like Kristaps Porzingis taking up around 18 percent.
For a pure rim protector like Walker Kessler, history says you need to keep that slot under 10 percent of your cap, just like the Warriors did with Andrew Bogut or the Thunder did with Chet Holmgren. Dropping 30 million on Kessler means he would eat up nearly 20 percent of a 165 million dollar cap.
You just cannot win a championship paying elite unicorn money to a defensive specialist.
The Jazz can't budge on this.
What a nightmare of a game to end the season with. Ultimately they reset the standard with 60 wins and making it out of the first round. But going out like this tastes bitter regardless of what expectations were during preseason. One of their worst performances in a long time.
James Harden flopping around on the ground like that after trying to con the refs into calling a foul is such a effing joke. It’s so bad. As much as I love watching basketball, that sh!t is so tiring and old.
Cade has probably been the most impressive player in these playoffs so far. 30.6 PPG & 7.4 APG on 59.6% TS with awesome defense while Detroit's +74 with him and -21 without him.
The turnovers are an issue, but everything else has been outstanding. What a player to build around.
The Pistons are shining in this series.
Cade + Harris are so big & skilled that they can always find a matchup they can attack. Nails in the clutch.
With Cade + their defense + possession game dominance, when the 3-ball is also falling like this... they're an incredible team.
25-4-10-1-2 (7/14 FG, 8/8 FT) for Cade, including 12 points in the final 6 minutes
over 9 games this postseason he's averaging 30.6 PPG on 59.8% TS, 5.2 RPG, 7.4 APG, 1.0 SPG, and 0.9 BPG with a +74 total +/-
in his 15 career playoff games he's never scored fewer than 21 points
Cade looks very much like a bonafide top tier superstar in this league.
If his jump shot is gonna be this reliable there just really isn’t much you can do with him. He’s scoring efficiently and at volume in a phone both. Hooping his ass off.
