There's this girl I've been talking with for a while.
She decided to come and visit, and as we were discussing, she just brought this up out of the blue; saying that her aunty likes it when she goes out, and that when she returns, there should be changes in her appearance, like new hair or new nails, or a gift. And that her aunty expects her to bring back a gift for her.
I told her I wasn't expecting to do all that on a first meeting. After she left, I just deleted her number, because keeping up with the relationship would be billing upon billing.
I'm wondering why an aunty would raise a young lady in such a direction.
Some parents and guardians need to do better.🤦🏾♂️
My sourdough pizza dough and sandwich bread recipes are the same, so now, instead of two crusts or one big loaf, I make one of each. Sandwiches today, pizza tomorrow!
THE STAGES OF FULFILLMENT OF YOUR DIVINE POTENTIAL: COMPLETION (TELOS)
1 Corinthians 2:6 (NKJV): “However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.”
Having passed through the discovery of divine purpose (prothesis) and endured the refining furnace of spiritual process (ergon), the believer arrives at the ultimate third stage: Completion (telos), which is associated with the idea of maturity expressed by the Greek word teleios.
In the Greek New Testament, telos signifies far more than a simple ending or chronological stop; it means ultimate maturity, full realization, and the reaching of an intended goal.
Telos is the stage of the finished product. It is the moment at which the seed that was once hidden, shaped, stretched, and tested through process breaks forth into full, unshakeable maturity, fully living out the divine potential God placed within it from the beginning.
When you reach telos, you are no longer tossed about by spiritual weakness or defined by trial-and-error. Your life manifests the exact design God originally conceived.
Jesus demonstrated this ultimate state on the cross when He declared, tetelestai, meaning, "It is finished!" He had navigated the blueprint of His purpose, endured the crucible of His earthly assignment, and reached the absolute fulfilment of His mission.
God’s ultimate desire is not for you to remain in perpetual preparation or partial expression. He called you to mature into the full stature of Christ, walking in maximum spiritual authority, fruitfulness, and impact. Align fully with His Word, embrace every stage of growth, and step boldly into the complete, mature manifestation of your divine potential!
FURTHER STUDY: Colossians 1:28; Ephesians 4:13
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I thank You for bringing me into spiritual maturity and full fruitfulness. Thank You that You who began a good work in me are faithful to bring it to full completion! I refuse to settle for partial fulfilment or spiritual stagnation. I yield completely to Your Holy Spirit, stepping into the fullness of my divine call and manifesting the mature glory of Christ in every area of my life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
SAVORY BEEF & POTATO GRATIN WITH GOLDEN CHEESE CRUST 🥩🥔🧀
"Cheesy, hearty comfort in every bite"
Servs: 4–6 people
Ingredients
For the Beef Filling:
500 g ground beef
1 medium onion, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp dried thyme
½ tsp dried rosemary
½ tsp black pepper
Salt, to taste
½ cup beef broth
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
For the Potato Layers:
800 g potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
1 tbsp butter, for greasing the baking dish
For the Creamy Cheese Sauce:
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1½ cups milk
½ cup heavy cream
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
½ cup grated mozzarella cheese
A pinch of nutmeg
Salt and black pepper, to taste
For Garnishing:
2 tbsp fresh parsley or chives, chopped
A little extra grated cheese
Instructions
1. Prepare the Beef Filling:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary. Stir in the tomato paste, paprika, thyme, rosemary, salt, and black pepper.
Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until the mixture becomes rich and slightly thickened. Remove from the heat.
2. Make the Creamy Cheese Sauce:
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute without allowing it to brown.
Gradually pour in the milk, whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Add the cream and simmer gently for 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Reduce the heat and stir in the cheddar, mozzarella, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and creamy.
3. Prepare the Potatoes:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Lightly grease a deep baking dish with butter.
Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly and evenly, approximately 3 mm thick, to help them cook uniformly.
4. Assemble the Gratin:
Arrange a layer of sliced potatoes across the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Spread half of the beef mixture over the potatoes, followed by a little cheese sauce.
Repeat with another layer of potatoes, the remaining beef, and more sauce. Finish with a final layer of potatoes and pour the remaining cheese sauce evenly over the top.
Sprinkle with extra grated cheddar and mozzarella for a delicious golden crust.
5. Bake Until Golden:
Cover the dish loosely with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 20–30 minutes, until the potatoes are fork-tender and the cheese topping is golden, bubbling, and lightly crisp.
If the potatoes need more time, cover again and continue baking until tender. The center should reach at least 74°C (165°F) for food safety when using ground beef.
6. Rest and Serve:
Allow the gratin to rest for 10–15 minutes before serving. This helps the layers settle and makes slicing easier.
Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or chives and serve warm.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve with a crisp green salad, steamed vegetables, roasted broccoli, or warm crusty bread to complement the rich, cheesy layers.
Cooking Tips:
Slice the potatoes evenly for consistent cooking.
Use freshly grated cheese for the smoothest sauce.
Add a pinch of chili flakes if you enjoy a little heat.
For extra depth of flavor, add sliced mushrooms to the beef filling.
Let the gratin rest before cutting to help it hold its shape.
Enjoy!🥩🥔🧀
The upshot of Peter Thiel's fourth Nashville Antichrist lecture, "The New Rome": the United States is the new Rome, but as a katechontic force, it runs the risk of flipping into something antichristic.
Rome, he argues, lies somewhere in the morally ambiguous middle—in Biblical terms, neither Babylon nor the New Jerusalem.*
The investor charts a trajectory from Rome to the Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantium) to the Holy Roman Empire.
After Napoleon (who, as Thiel has noted, was likened to the Antichrist in his time) brought down the HRE, things get muddier.
He lays out what he believes to be the three key elements of a New Rome: It must be a military superpower (citing Daniel 2:40, in which King Nebuchadnezzar dreams of a kingdom "as strong as iron"); it must be a financial superpower that monitors and controls payments (citing the apocalyptic Revelations 13:17); and it must be an ideological or religious superpower that wins hearts and minds (citing Matthew 24:24, which reads, "For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.")
"I don't like Russia" as a candidate for the New Rome following the (much earlier) fall of Constantinople, Thiel says, arguing that the country's trajectory after the Bolshevik takeover raises a question that is difficult to answer. Thiel says he can't look into Vladimir Putin's heart to see if he's more of a Christian or more of an ex-KGB agent (while God alone knows, "I have my suspicions"); at any rate, in Thiel's judgment, a New Rome, as something katechontic that can become antichristic, would need to be more powerful than Russia.
Back to the 18th/19th century: Thiel hits the War of Spanish Succession, describing it as the last effort to create a Catholic superpower (and quoting Robert Southey's 1796 "The Battle of Blenheim").
The next best candidate for the New Rome, he argues, was Great Britain. Although the British were, in his judgment, somewhat scared of Thomas Hobbes, they adopted the naval power that his image of the state—"the Leviathan"—may evoke.
In Thiel's lecture, Alfred Lord Tennyson's 1842 "Locksley Hall"—among other things, a prophecy of "the federation of the world"—unites the Brits with their successors, the Americans, through a dream of world empire. (President Harry Truman carried it around in his pocket.)
The investor lists various ways the United States has self-consciously imitated Rome, from the Latin pseudonyms adopted by the Founders in the Federalist Papers to the appearance of George Washington, like Caesar Augustus before him, on currency.
The United States, Thiel argues, may be the one truly sovereign country, with the president as something like mayor of the United States and dictator of the rest of the world. Five Eyes/ECHELON, the SWIFT payment system, and the dollar's reserve currency status all bolster its power.
Thiel argues that the United States' high level of violence, at least relative to other developed countries, is part of a package deal. (A slide, "We police ourselves as violently as the rest of the world," shows what an outlier the U.S. is with respect to the death penalty, including Russia.)
Thiel contends that Americans "haven't totally neutered ourselves" and abdicated their katchecontic responsibilities.

When I became a Solo Pastor I prayed that God would bring me a young man passionate about ministry that the Church could help train up and that could help serve Christ Covenant Church as well.
God brought me 5 (so far).
