Our prejudices aside, these guys know how to ask questions. The premise of their education is helping children ask questions. Yours here asks -Are you a Luganda?, Are you stupid? If you think I am lying, watch your TV hosts interview a guest.
My unsolicited advice to the new King- avoid this heavy military escorts. Ordinary Ugandans are so traumatised seeing and interfacing with such. Uganda (and Tooro) is generally safe. Just 1 or 2 VIP Protection Police would do. No need for lead or escort cars. Your subjects will fear approaching you. You need their acceptance and legitimacy. This optics is bad.

We handed our health data gleefully in exchange for some grants and even had their lackeys celebrating here as "diplomacy." Just hear how Ghana responded.

The @EOC_UG is conducting a two-day capacity-building workshop on Gender and Equity in Climate Change Adaptation in the Bugisu Sub-Region, bringing together local leaders to strengthen inclusive, practical, and community-driven responses to climate challenges.
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Nagimat Nalwadda, Senior Compliance and Enforcement Officer at EOC, called for people-centered climate action that prioritizes vulnerable groups women, youth, children, older persons, and persons with disabilities. She emphasized the importance of equipping leaders with the right knowledge, embracing community participation, and using local solutions to build resilient communities that leave no one behind. 🌍
Mr. Sasaga John Peter, Education and Training Officer, challenged leaders to move beyond policies and translate equal opportunity principles into real action. He highlighted concerns from older persons being left out of programmes like PDM and urged parish leaders to intentionally enforce affirmative action in planning and resource allocation. He emphasized that inclusive development requires creativity, accountability, and deliberate effort ensuring all groups benefit fairly.
The first Resource Person provided insight into how climate change continues to disproportionately affect vulnerable populations, with women facing food insecurity, children exposed to health risks, and others requiring tailored disaster responses. Practical solutions discussed included climate-smart agriculture, diversified livelihoods, strong early warning systems, and community-led planning linked to local budgets.
Mr. Chelwot Aramathan reinforced that climate change is already a real disruptor affecting communities across Uganda. He called for equitable resource allocation, urging leaders to prioritize the most affected groups through targeted interventions. He proposed ring-fencing climate funds, digitizing vulnerable households, strengthening response systems, and increasing investment in climate-smart initiatives.
He further emphasized transparency, accountability, and participatory budgeting to ensure resources reach the grassroots. His key message: climate change is not just an environmental issue it is a development and social justice concern that demands collective action, inclusive planning, and responsible leadership at all levels.
