The #Somaliland Police and @MoERD carried out an important mission yesterday in our fight against the illegal wildlife trade. We successfully confiscated 10 cheetah cubs from a known gang of traffickers in the Xeedho area on the outskirts of Hargeisa.
These are our orphaned Cheetah cubs Jaya and Rocket grooming each other after dinner!
Grooming each other doesn’t just help keep them both clean, it also strengthens the bond between themselves and these two are inseparable!

Yesterday 12 cubs were confiscated from a boat off the #Somaliland coast. The cubs were in plastic hampers and in extremely poor condition. 4 died shortly after being confiscated. They're only about 2 months old, very weak, and their prognosis is not good.
STOP this trade! #IWT
EXCLUSIVE Cheetahs 'could go extinct in east Africa within two years because three quarters of their cubs are being smuggled out and sold to wealthy Arab men as "status symbol" pets'

CCF is disappointed in the outcome of #CoP18 for the Cheetah. We had hoped to have each of our decisions for the Cheetah accepted.
Turning a blind eye to the illegal trade is not an option we will accept. The struggle continues to help #SaveTheCheetah

Jaya and Rocket, our two orphaned cubs playing this afternoon. Both of them came to CCF separately as orphans and would have never survived alone in the wild.
Luckily they have each other and can now grow up together. Their keepers are so happy with how quickly they have bonded.
Three more confiscated Cheetah cubs arrived at our Safe House in #Somaliland this week. Unfortunately one cub was too weak and didn't make it. We are now caring for 25 Cheetahs in Somaliland and we continue to spread the message that #CheetahsAreNotPets#IWT
