The practical lesson is simple. Security isn't just about finding the next bug. It's about making sure an unknown bug is even harder to reach and exploit. And that becomes especially interesting when AI can review huge amounts of code and configurations far more quickly than a traditional manual audit. But faster discovery creates a second problem.
The Verge reports on Anthropic's OSS scanner, a free opt-in vulnerability scanner service for eligible open source projects. Maintainers can enroll their project. Sounds great. Free security scanning for critical open source infrastructure. Sign me up. But here's the catch.
The reports go directly to maintainers without human review or triage. Anthropic said its models have already generated tens of thousands of potential. So the company's offering projects a choice. Wait for a smaller number of human-validated reports, or receive the model-generated findings more quickly and do your own triage. ~ @RobertJacobi
The rate-limiting factor in cybersecurity isn't finding threats. It's the human ability to keep up with AI-discovered vulnerabilities. https://t.co/7vi7vjDKeR
"We may be just moving information faster, not better. Speed brings convenience, but reflection brings value."

Most news shows tell you what happened. "Open Channels News" tells you what it means. @RobertJacobi adds the context, then ties three stories into one thread. Open source people, this one’s for you.
Had a really nice yapping session with @BobDunnOS, was so nice to talk about work/life balance, finding things that make you happy, and how much we miss the exploration and weird side of the internet!
