Epistemology is social -- let's get good at it. Coming soon: an error-seeking network. Right now: Preserving the #ScienceTwitter graph. By @john_d_beatty
Science Twitter is valuable, but Twitter is going through an uncertain phase at the moment. Let's archive the Science Twitter follow graph using scientists' ORCIDs just in case. We built a tool for this -- it takes just one minute to contribute! https://t.co/9ItmbRSl23
The Science Twitter graph archive project has one week to live as Twitter's API is being shut off on February 9th. Archive while you still can: https://t.co/9ItmbRSl23.
Tweetbot and other clients are experiencing problems logging in to Twitter. We’ve reached out to Twitter for more details, but haven’t heard back.
We’re hoping this is just a temporary glitch and will let you know more as soon as we know more.
Also, coming soon:
A novel way to find new follows with special support for Mastodon.
Bi-directional sync with Wikidata for people we believe can pass the notability test.
If you tried to register but you never got the verification email, I now have a simple solution for you: Just try to log in with that email. If you had a pending registration it will simply send you the verification email. Also, a few new features now and coming soon:
Identical source as the Firefox extension (except V3 manifest rather than V2). It also works as a Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey user script as well, if you prefer.
A prototype of the Firefox extension for OpenCheck's new community-based identity verification system is now available: https://t.co/bSjfnkUrGi. Chrome and other browsers coming soon. See video for how it works:
Finally, note that on Mastodon a browser extension isn't necessary to validate identity, thanks to Mastodon's openness -- you can link to your OpenCheck public URL and because it links back with rel="me" it will turn green.

It requests the minimum set of permissions necessary. If you want to check identities but don't want to install the extension, just go to https://t.co/GpwvhVS0Uf
Voting is available from the account page of ORCID-authenticated accounts with verified publication histories. This will expand as the web-of-trust grows.
A prototype of community-based identity verification is now live. Tools to check Twitter identities are available now (https://t.co/64EIjIY1Q5 and browser bookmarklet) with browser extensions and user scripts coming soon.
The system is bootstrapped off existing ORCID-authenticated accounts with verified publication histories along with Wikidata. A web-of-trust is being formed with a voting (now available) that currently looks like this:
