We’re looking forward to briefing the committee on the important work of open government in Northern Ireland and the role they can play in championing it for transparency, accountability, and public trust in our institutions.
The Committee for Finance will next meet on Wednesday 4th December at 2pm. The Committee will hear from @OpenGovNI on the work of Open Government in Northern Ireland and from the Department @dptfinance on the NI Investment Fund and UK Infrastructure Bank/National Wealth Fund.
A fraud investigation is under way into allegations that lax controls at NI Water meant it has been paying contractors multiple times & for work which was never done. The internal probe emerges as NI Water is asking Stormont for lots more public cash.

@apallan We looked into this issue last year as part of our ‘Opening Local Government’ research. Transparency of decisions at local government level is a major issue in need of reform. The research makes practical recommendations for how this can be done.
