Merry Christmas everyone! As a gift, I just finished implementing JPEG support for Oculus CV1 sensors connected to USB 2.0 ports.

I found a bug in my code to match LEDs to blobs in video frames, leading to unstable correspondences and jitter - especially in the controllers. Makes a huge difference! (plots are from separate before and after recordings) #OpenHMD#RiftCV1
I am very happy with heuristics I added to detect bad pose detections in @OpenHMD Oculus CV1 tracking over the past few weeks. In general they work really well. Tracking losses are rarer, but still occur under specific fast motions and are getting trickier.
I rewrote some of the pose calculations in the @OpenHMD Rift CV1 driver this weekend. Among other things, it fixes velocity reports so gravity-grab in Half-Life: Alyx works now.
RC1 for version 0.2.4 of #PsychXR is available on GitHub. Highlights are preliminary @OpenHMD support and exposing new color management features on Oculus headsets. Website documentation has been updated to reflect this release.
In 2 days, it'll be 2 years since I started work on Rift CV1 positional tracking. As an anniversary present, here's a wall of words about the state of things: https://t.co/dshhW10sq2 @OpenHMD
What was suppose to be a small maintenance release of PsychXR turned into me adding two new modules. An @OpenHMD driver interface and a generic toolbox for VR math to work with it. LibOVR extension got colour management and some additional support for the Quest.
This is what the current @OpenHMD Rift tracking branch is capable of in the right hands: https://t.co/I9BQ4aqex3
I'm super happy with how far it's come in the past few months.
New Rift tracking commits at https://t.co/vpN7Xu37iN - I fixed some gravity vector calcs and improved pose search speed and it's mostly tracking quite well now. Played an hour or so on Beat Saber at expert level. @OpenHMD
I made some simple changes to the pose recovery search in https://t.co/vpN7Xu37iN. Still generally terrible under fast motion, but I managed to finish some Beat Saber on Hard setting. I'm working on a session recording / debug tool for the next improvements. @OpenHMD#OculusCV1
Did I just become the first person in the world to complete a Beat Saber level with my Oculus CV1 under Linux? I think so! https://t.co/uOCc67gqId @OpenHMD
Positional Tracking update for the #Oculus DK2/CV1 with a working prototype! Awesome work being done by contributors over the years with @thaytan doing lots of heavy lifting for the last 2 years! #FOSS#VR#XR Branch available in the video description.
