Hooters says it’s going family-friendly.

CEO Neil Kiefer says the restaurant chain wants to return to its roots as a “beach-themed” neighborhood spot that families, couples, and regulars feel comfortable walking into, he told People magazine.

Kiefer blamed years of private equity ownership for pushing the brand “further and further away” from what it originally stood for — including uniforms he says became overly sexualized.

Now, after buying the brand back out of bankruptcy, the original owners say they’re trying to “re-Hooterize” Hooters.

“There’s nothing wrong with a pair of shorts if fitted properly... But I think in a dining place, there is something wrong [if] they’re in a thong-type uniform.”
