Once again, parents are bracing for bad news about their children’s access to education today. We hope the @CDCgov will do right by children, but we have no illusions that there has been a risk benefit analysis. The benefits of school outweigh the risks.

Just talked to a friend who is administrator at a large public school in FL. ~ 50k students. Options for parents were remote or full time in person. They’ve been operating with masks and utilizing 6 ft spacing at lunch. Kids take masks off outside and during PE. No outbreaks.

We applaud this change that will minimize academic disruption for Erie County children going forward. Kids need more time in classrooms.

Thank you @ECDOH for using science and data to adjust quarantine restrictions for schools to be the same as the general population. The 60 min in a classroom clause turned out to result in no additional positives, so we have been needlessly quarantining children since September.
