Open Waters is dedicated to enhancing career opportunities in Louisiana's maritime industry. Recently, our board members, Captains E. Michael Bopp, and Louis M. "Toby" Wattigney Jr., delivered keynote remarks at a ULMA reception as partners of the University of Louisiana System.
Open Waters joined We Work The Waterways at Port of South Louisiana! Engaging local high school students, we highlighted maritime careers, shared success stories, and introduced our Summer Internship Program. Special thanks to State Rep Sylvia Taylor for inspiring the students.

Yesterday, the NOBRA interns were able to hone their skills and master essential docking commands.ย Next up, the incredible MPI โ the ultimate riverboat simulator, learning to virtually navigate open waters. With VR headsets, the interns virtually navigated the Mississippi River.
