[Content warning: loss] Opera Mariposa is saddened to announce the passing of our longest-standing volunteer. Gum Chu Cheong (a.k.a. @ItsJacquelineKo & Stephanie Ko's maternal grandfather, a.k.a. “Gung Gung”), passed away peacefully on Nov 28, 2025 at the age of 95.

Chu was known to Mariposa’s team members for volunteering across multiple departments. He built & repaired costumes; created & sourced set pieces & props; enthusiastically postered the town before each show; & personally sold so many tickets, it became a bit of a running joke.
