Phase 3 of the UPDF recruitment programme, Physical Recruitment: Only shortlisted candidates as displayed ON THE UPDF PORTAL are required to report to the assigned centres in the district where their names appear from 10-22 August 26. They MUST report with ALL the requirements indicated. Also note that ONLY the UPDF technical recruitment teams have the SOLE authority to recruit anyone into the UPDF as per the recruitment criteria. The role of the local councils, district and city authorities is to ensure that shortlisted candidates as DISPLAYED on the UPDF PORTAL are adult Ugandans without a criminal record, and are residents of the area in which they applied.

I met my Spanish Bazzukulu this evening at State House Entebbe after the completion of their fourth annual volunteer mission in Uganda. For the last four years, they have supported vulnerable communities in Gomba District by constructing school facilities, improving access to clean water and undertaking other outreach activities. I thanked them for their spirit of service, shared with them Uganda’s journey from subsistence to the money economy, and encouraged them to live disciplined, purposeful lives.

This evening at State House Entebbe, I met H.E. Dr. Kamba Mulanda Samuel Roger, the DRC Minister of Public Health, who delivered a special message from President Félix Tshisekedi on the Ebola outbreak. I reaffirmed Uganda’s readiness to support our brothers and sisters in the DRC through treatment, technical expertise and close regional cooperation.

Uganda contained its recent Ebola cases through early detection, treatment and strict public health measures. I also proposed establishing Ebola treatment centres inside eastern DRC to ensure early treatment closer to the affected communities and help contain the disease at its source.

I concluded my engagements at three village Baraza meetings in Te Acam Village, Purongo Town Council, Nwoya District. The meetings provided an opportunity to mobilise and sensitise residents ahead of the Women Council elections tomorrow and the LC1 elections scheduled for 28th July 2026.
We remain committed to strengthening grassroots participation and ensuring effective community involvement in these democratic processes.

Today, the nation bid farewell to one of its greatest patriots, a statesman who devoted his whole life to serving Uganda with courage, wisdom, and unwavering commitment.

On behalf of the National Organising Committee, which I had the privilege to chair, I sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to giving our beloved Rt. Hon. Gen. (Rtd.) Moses Ali, a dignified and befitting send-off. Your dedication has demonstrated the respect and affection that our nation had for its extraordinary son.

Our deepest appreciation goes to His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni @KagutaMuseveni for according his longtime friend, brother, and comrade an official burial and for standing with the family throughout this difficult time.

We equally thank the Parliament of Uganda for the special tribute sitting held in his honour and for supporting the burial arrangements.

To Rt. Hon. Gen. (Rtd.) Moses Ali's fellow Ministers, Members of Parliament, officials of the NRM Party, and all Ugandans: thank you for walking a journey with him until his final days and for honouring him with heartfelt tributes that have reminded the nation of his remarkable legacy of patriotism, humility, and selfless service.

We express great thanks to the people of West Nile for nurturing and sharing with Uganda such an exceptional leader.
The overwhelming love you have shown your “Cock” in life and in death is a testimony to the lasting bond he had with his people.

As we laid Rt. Hon. Gen. (Rtd.) Moses Ali to rest today, let us remember that while great leaders depart, the values they lived for endure. The greatest tribute we can pay him is to preserve our unity, work hard for our country, and serve Uganda with the same dedication that defined his remarkable life.

May the Almighty Allah grant our departed elder eternal peace, comfort his family, and bless Uganda.

I then briefly joined members of Pabit Trading Centre Cell in Kiba Ward, Purongo Town Council, during their Village Baraza, which reaffirmed the overwhelming support for @NRMOnline candidates.
The Baraza also verified the cell membership register and underscored the importance of the forthcoming village elections, while encouraging members to remain united and actively participate in strengthening the party at the grassroots.

This afternoon, I hosted the Presidential Pearl to Cape Expedition 2025 Homecoming Luncheon to celebrate the successful journey of the Kayoola E-Coach from Uganda to South Africa and back. I congratulate the Kiira Motors team on this historic achievement, which demonstrates that Africa can design, manufacture and export its own technology.

Before colonialism, our people had an integrated economy built on artisans and indigenous knowledge. Our task now is to restore that foundation through modern industrialization. I have directed the relevant Ministries to move with speed, secure financing, guarantee off-take for locally manufactured buses, and support battery production. We must stop working slowly. Uganda’s industrial transformation cannot wait.

Today, I joined members of Koyo Cell in Tangi Ward, Purongo Town Council, for their Village Baraza, where the party flag bearer and independent aspirants reached a consensus in the spirit of unity to let our flagbearer go unopposed.
This is a clear demonstration of the purpose and strength of the Village Barazas—to build consensus, foster cohesion, and rally all members behind our party flag bearer, thereby strengthening our chances of victory in the forthcoming elections.

Last week, while traversing the slopes of the Elgon Mountains, we were caught in a heavy downpour. We branched off at Mama Sowedi’s restaurant at the boda boda stage, Wanale Junction, for a cup of black tea and a plate of rice and beans.

I must say, it was one of the best cups of black tea I have ever tasted. The rice had a few stones in it, but I didn’t complain because, for only UGX 2,500, we each enjoyed a plate of rice, beans, and tea. It was simple, affordable, and served with genuine hospitality.

Soon, I will return with our General @mkainerugaba’s supporters and Mbale District PLU structure, to support Mama Sowedi with iron sheets so she can expand her restaurant, grow her business, and employ more young people in the village.

Thank you, Mama Sowedi, for your kindness, the delicious tea, the warm meal, and for giving us shelter from the rain at Wanale Junction. May God bless your hard work.
