@navyhato Tough one....there was never a more magical time for pc's & the internet. Not a good decade for movies, but media hadn't become entirely cookie cutter, corporate, & censored....yeah, I think I'd do it
Addendum: Victor Berger, the first Socialist ever elected to Congress, was prosecuted under the Espionage Act -- for seeking to "hinder and embarrass the Government"
It may have come to your attention that Donald Trump is also currently being investigated under the Espionage Act
But yeah, when Biden declared "MAGA Republicans" a "clear and present danger" that "threatens the very foundations of our Republic," you were crazy if you inferred that the groundwork was being laid for the criminalization of political speech and suppression of political activity
Lots of people who scream 24/7 about "democracy" supposedly being under mortal threat are also very enthusiastic about resurrecting archaic World War I-era mechanisms to punish and disqualify their political enemies from participating in the democratic process
The last time this arcane Constitutional power was invoked was 1919, when socialist Victor Berger was barred from taking the seat in the House he'd been duly elected to, on the ground of "disloyalty to the United States" -- for publishing a leaflet in opposition to World War I
It is astonishing to watch Dems and their allies in media corporations posture as opponents of "fascism" - while their main goal is to *unite state and corporate power* to censor their critics and degrade the internet into an increasingly repressive weapon of information control.
@candiomercer @FifeRight14 @PDXReal1 Ha ha, yeah. I had the displeasure of voting for him myself, since his opponents were the pro-antifa candidate and the "hands up, don't shoot" candidate. The choices were bad or worse....
@FifeRight14 @PDXReal1@candiomercer A f'ed up exception is: Ted Wheeler, whom I hate for not standing up to riot violence in '20, & violence generally if it's committed by his favored groups. But when his condo was attacked by antifa, he held firm and did not go NIMBY or respond differently; ie, he did nothing
@Chesschick01 But disregarding the desires & "lived experience" of the vast majority of both the straight AND gay community is inclusive & tolerant, right?
@LeisDuch @LidlLare @kennymxu No, you think everything is racist. & that's sad...but the world is not all racist and the world will just have to move on without you. Or you could change. Gotta open your eyes, though. Question the Narrative. Ok, been fun, but it's going in circles now. Gotta go.
@LeisDuch @LidlLare @kennymxu Being fed narratives by you and your ilk. Are black ppl born fully formed & knowing everything and having seen all the world? No. So if they go to school and a woke teacher tells them that the world is arrayed against them & they should see racism in all that's fucked up and evil
