The final episode of the Rethinking Angina Series is here!
In this episode, Hani Essa discusses the new treatments now available for managing angina, highlighting how a mechanism-led escalation approach and specialist assessment can help identify the most appropriate treatment options for patients, including potential CTO solutions where indicated.

Episode 4, How important is patient history when it comes to angina?, is now live.
In this episode, Catherine Allibone and James Redfern share a key takeaway from The Liverpool Angina Course 2026, emphasising that while investigations are important, the most critical factor, first, second, and third, is the patient’s history.

Episode 2 of The Rethinking Angina Series, Is a patient centred approach the most effective strategy?, is now live.
In this episode, @mahz21 reflects on how The Angina Course has shaped her approach to patient management, highlighting the importance of combining patient symptoms, expectations, and physiology to guide optimal care.

Too many patients with angina remain stuck without any solutions, dealing with symptoms which affect not only their lives but the lives of those close to them as well.
Do we have our angina management in check?
Rethinking Angina is the name of the newest video series by Optima Education, recorded during The Angina Course in Liverpool, highlighting how angina diagnosis and treatment works in everyday practice and how it can help make things better for patients.
Episode 1, What Needs to Change?, is now live, with new episodes released throughout May.

At @OptimaCTO’s New Wave Academy 2026, we welcomed 84 fellows for a hands‑on learning experience focused on decision‑making in complex PCI. The two-day event combined structured thinking with a practical in lab experience, enabling high quality discussion and clear clinical relevance.
Thank you to Optima Education, @ORSIAcademy, and all participants for their sincere engagement and shared expertise.

New Wave Academy ORSI provided a platform for the future interventional cardiologists to engage in intensive learning.
Starting from basic principles to complex cases like CTOs, the program offered theoretical instruction, simulation, and case studies to link theory and practice.
Thank you to our faculty and delegates for making the learning process engaging and aspirational.
The future of PCI is already here.

Becoming an interventional cardiologist isn’t easy.
It takes perseverance, dedication and, often, the support of others. Teachers, fellows, friends and family all play a role, and no two journeys are the same.
Headphones On follows Laura Novelli, interventional cardiologist and Optima faculty member, from a curious teenager navigating many interests to unexpectedly discovering a passion for coronary guide wires (a bit PCI niche, we know), all before ever stepping into a cath lab.
“I had absolutely no idea how to puncture a radial artery or do a coronary angiography.”
Low on money and with limited cardiology experience, Laura had to make decisions.
None of them were straightforward.
