Despite spending million to go Solar, seasons like this will keep reminding us of government persistent failure to deliver a reliable electricity supply.

We keep hearing “solar is the solution,” but let’s be honest: solar cannot be a 100% substitute. When sunlight gets low (especially during the rainy season or Harmattan), charging drops drastically. We still need stable, reliable grid power for 24/7 needs. Many of us are too proud to admit this publicly though but I will be doing this on your behalf today.

This power crisis is holding us back as a nation, and without us fixing this particular problem our productivity in every sector will be affected.

The government must fix the power sector urgently, we have to start demanding proper supervision and accountability on every investment that had been channeled into this sector.

Solar can support but can’t be a total substitute, our economy and future growth solely depend on this, we have to demand for real solutions!

Today marks six years since we lost Tolulope Arotile.

Even now, I still find myself thinking about how deeply unfair it was. At just 24, she had already become the first female combat helicopter pilot in Nigerian Air Force history. She earned her wings in 2019 and, in less than a year, was flying real combat missions against Boko Haram and bandits. By 24, she had logged 460 flight hours.

Then, in a cruel twist, a reversing car on a military base took her life. To this day, we still have no real answers.
