We were called to a fault at a food factory where they had an extruder that was tripping out on an over temperature alarm.
This extruder drive was overheating due to a blocked heatsink. The drive was removed from the panel and cleaned, no further problems occurred.

We found this encoders flex mount and pin were worn causing excessive rotation on the encoder.
The drive picks this movement as speed variation and alters its response causing torque spikes and a reduction in smooth running.

Retro fitting ABB ACS380 drives in place of some older Eurotherm 608 and 601 drives for a furnace control. Although the Eurotherm drives were still working, the ACS380 offers greater communications and monitoring, they are part of the customers future proofing for any upgrades.

A recent upgraded one of our customers nip rollers in a steel rolling mill.
The system had a tacho interface box that was prone to problems & drift which caused issues with changing speeds.
We fitted a GV210 encoder switch & now the feedback is digital & no longer prone to drift.

The firewire card in the HMI was the cause of the fault but a replacement wasnt available in the time needed by the customer. Instead we were able to replace the firewire with an Ethernet system with no loss of quality or reliability
