🇵🇱🇺🇸 Poland might build the world's first AI fighter.
Shield AI, the California firm behind the X-BAT, has offered Warsaw a real piece of the program, with the autonomous jet potentially rolling off Polish production lines.
The X-BAT is the wild part, an AI-piloted aircraft that takes off and lands vertically, ranges more than 2,000 nautical miles, and can either fight on its own or ride shotgun for crewed jets.
Tusk isn't underselling it either, calling the thing "an unmanned equivalent of the F-35."
The timing is no accident, since Poland is already shopping for up to 32 new fighters and has only just taken delivery of its first F-35s.
And that is not even the whole board, because Warsaw is separately weighing whether to join GCAP, the sixth-generation fighter project run by the U.K., Japan and Italy.
For a country sitting on NATO's eastern edge, turning itself into the workshop for the West's next-generation airpower is a smart way to become impossible to sideline.

Everyone's talking about Elon Musk's AI1 satellite this week. Almost nobody noticed: China moved on space-based AI compute a week BEFORE he did.
Last week, Beijing quietly launched its first Space Computing Industry Innovation Center. Government-chartered, led by BUPT, a top state telecom university. The mandate: radiation-hardened space-native AI chips, compute satellite platforms, space-optimized LLMs, integrated space-ground networking, and "tokenized" orbital compute operations. 24 hours later, Beijing E-Town convened satellite makers, chip firms, and materials companies to plan a Space Intelligent Computing Research Institute.
The Rio 3.5 model broke the internet this week. The plot twist? It’s essentially our open-source model, Nex N2 Pro, wearing a different hat.
🤯 We analyzed the weights, and the recipe is exact: Rio 3.5 ≈ 0.6 * Nex N2 Pro + 0.4 * Qwen 3.5
It even literally introduces itself as "Nex N2 Pro" if you ask it without initial system prompt!
😂 We are flattered that the City of Rio used our work to achieve SOTA performance. Thanks for the ultimate benchmark validation.
🤝 But in the open-source world, attribution matters.

SITUATION DETECTED: The city of Rio de Janerio has post-trained a model.
Based on Qwen 7/2, Rio 3.5 Open 397B adds SwiReasoning on top of the base Qwen model — a framework that dynamically switches between standard chain-of-thought and latent-space reasoning, guided by entropy-based confidence signals, so the model only "thinks out loud" when it needs to and otherwise reasons silently in hidden space for better token efficiency.
GLM-5.2 is Fully Open, Frontier Intelligence Belongs to Everyone
Today, the sudden restriction of certain frontier models is deeply regrettable. At a time when access to frontier models is abruptly cut off for non-technical reasons, we are even more convinced of one thing: science should be global.
The path to AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) must never be enclosed by high walls. We have always believed that AGI should be the cornerstone for all of humanity to collaboratively explore the boundaries of intelligence and solve complex challenges, rather than a privilege monopolized by a few rules and subject to revocation at any moment. In the face of external blockades and restrictions, our attitude is one of radical openness. Frontier intelligence must remain open-source, accessible, and buildable, serving every dedicated developer.
GLM-5.2 is Zhipu's most capable open-source model to date. It not only supports a truly usable 1M context window but also maintains a continuous lead in the independent completion of long-horizon tasks, providing solid foundational support for building complex agent applications. It also continues to be our main engine for creating the strongest domestic coding model.
Tonight at 5:21—at this special moment—GLM-5.2 will officially be available to all GLM Coding Plan users (including Lite / Pro / Max). The API will also go live next week.
A step closer to frontier intelligence for everyone.
The future of AI is open, and it is for the people.
