On this day, 30 years ago, Super Metroid was released.
One of the best games for the SNES, it revolutionized the metroidvania genre and carved the path for many amazing titles today!
In celebration of this titan of a game, tell me your favorite power up😄
Speed Booster for me!
@littleonestudio Yes, that is my opinion. I understand that creating a full new enemy isn't an easy task. If I had to spice up older regions of my game and could afford a new enemy, I'd do it.
But remember, that is only my opinion. In the end, you are the designer of your game😄
Enemy scaling and becoming stronger as you level up is one of the worst mechanics ever thought of and implemented. It makes grinding pointless and punishes the player for making an effort to become stronger and better at the game!
@littleonestudio Why? It's a genuine question - is there a lot of backtracking in your game, and you're worried about the earlier regions being boring when revisited later?
If that's the case, I would spawn stronger, but different enemies, like Metroid Prime does with the Chozo ghosts.
@IndiePumpCom Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, Astlibra: Revision and Mass Effect are among the games I played on easy. The first two because they were difficult without merciless grinding, the third because I just wanted to experience the story😄
Have you ever seen a shaved dog? The game dev version is funnier🤣
I am removing the geometry fur, and redoing it using another method so it actually looks good😃
But, of course, any process has a first step🤣
@EcclesiaFeriae It entirely depends on the game, of course. If it fits no purpose, if it goes against the atmosphere of the game, then it's better not to do it.
#Gamers! What do you think about the sexualization of characters? My take — balance in plot, gameplay, and visuals (we all love Baldur's Gate 3)
And if it’s an erotic game, for example, what's the fuss about?..

@HologramMonster Most memorable 3D platformer? That's a tough questions...🤔
I'd have to say Banjo-Kazooie. It was fun, funny, had great music and was overall a great game.
@IndiePumpCom Hi, thanks for hosting, as usual😃
I don't really have anything new to show, working on the project has slowed down in the past few days, and I'm doing only upgrades on existing content. Here's a WIP of some new locomotion animations:

New orientation warping setup with better animations😃
Also, I finally made smooth transitions between ground locomotion, jumping and landing😀

@verydrunkgamer Hey, thanks for hosting😄I can only show WIP stuff for the time being - but it's always good to keep track of the process itself, right?
