A developer using Bluetooth headphones accidentally caught Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba secretly hijacking his computer's audio system without making a single sound.

When his wireless headphones refused to switch audio to his phone while browsing AliExpress, he inspected the site's hidden code. He discovered background scripts holding his computer's audio pipeline wide open.

Alibaba was using the browser's WebAudio API to run invisible sound waves at zero volume. By measuring tiny hardware differences in how each computer processes those signals, the site created a unique digital fingerprint to track devices.

Because the secret audio path stayed active, it froze his Bluetooth connection while quietly scraping hardware memory, screen dimensions, and network data in the background.

Supposedly, the British government is accusing me of having indecent images and child porn.

My house was raided by the Romanians 3 times, all devices stolen and searched. No NORMAL porn of any kind was even in the file, let alone indecent. I don’t watch porn ever.

When I first landed in Florida all devices stolen and searched. Same story. Nothing.

But the British are saying they’ve found pictures on the stored download of a device that they took during a house raid of a shared apartment I lived in back in 2014 when I lived in England.

The device itself was destroyed by the police in 2019 after never charging me with any crimes. They no further actioned and closed the entire case.

NOW they’re saying they found a bad picture in that phone download?
All of a sudden?
To extradite me?
12 years later?
Why didn’t they charge me with this back in 2014 then if it existed?
And which phone even is it?
They took 20 phones from a shared apartment?
Over 100 different fighters moved through and stayed in this apartment when we trained in London - how do they know this phone is even mine?

This is the biggest crock of shit and I guarantee they throw it out the second it's in court. They simply want to slander my name and attempt to extradite me.

Mistakes were made.

Day 1 of the Special Forces Assessment and Selection Star Course.

A land navigation test for would-be Green Berets.

This is where cadre assess a man's ability to problem solve alone, tired, and banged up.

85lb ruck. A map. Compass. Protractor. And a dummy rifle used for training.

I tore through the cold night air. Crashing through brush.

After a long movement North to South I found my first point of the day in under 2 hours.

High off of early success, I felt invincible.

I plotted my next point. Another long movement.

This time South to Northeast.

I planned my route.

Stay on the high ground?

Or cut through Bones Fork Creek and save a couple of kilometers.

Send it.

45 minutes later I'm on the icy Northern bank of the creek.

My uniform was soaked from my chest down to my waterlogged boots.

No big deal. I'll walk myself dry.

Turns out it was a big deal.

An hour later I was still soaked to the bone and dangerously cold.

My feet felt like they would shatter if stomped hard.

A thick cloud of confusion descended upon my mind as I entered the early stages of hypothermia.

I couldn't make sense of my map.

My compass might as well have been spinning. The needle and numbered degrees meant nothing to me.

I tried to orient myself for hours. To no avail.

I wandered in an aimless stupor the rest of the day.

The day ended with me having found only 1 point.

I've replayed this day in my mind a thousand times.

It almost ended my career before it ever started.

A wiser version of myself would have at the very least,

Gone back to my last known point near the bank of the creek.

I would have changed into dry clothes, warmed up, and eaten an MRE.

Then I'd be in a better position to work the problem and navigate to the next point.

At the time, going backwards never felt like an option.

Brother, read that last line again.

What if going backwards is exactly what you need to do?

Maybe you decrease your lifestyle to get out of debt.

Or you take a pay cut to pursue work that matters to you.

What if you lose your reputation among colleagues because it's time for you to start your own endeavor?

Taking a step back feels scary.

But...

Sometimes, going backwards is the right way forward.
