@LangurLover Blackfish. Despite its discrepancies, it said what needed to be said. No, it didn't say it. It SCREAMED it. I am forever thankful for the "stop-and-think" movement it ignited.
@oceanmando China Cetacean Alliance had posted about it on IG and Facebook back in February. I consider them a reliable source, as many other reliable sources, including those on here both pro and anti, have acquired their information from them. Weibo, was also used as a source.
Poor Cookie is already being put through the ringer. Two calves. One dead and another she barely knew and will never know again once he's shipped off to Zhengzhou as planned. Imagine how different her life may have been if she hadn't been captured. Probably better than this.
Kalina, once an orca of @SeaWorld, seen here with deep, bloody rake marks and gouges to her rostrum. SeaWorld will tell you this is completely normal. But that's just industry BS.
I just don't get. People are exhausting themselves trying to make a connection that isn't feasible. Not everything can be tied to SeaWorld. Even as an anticap, over the years, I've learned to accept this.
Now, I don't like SeaWorld, never have, but some people are tying the recently deceased orca that washed up in Sweden, as a failed attempt by SeaWorld to capture a wild orca. Like, at least be sensible about it. That's a cringy grasp for straws.
I can't believe anyone, including Miami Seaquarium, ever felt it was acceptable to keep two orca in a tank this size. It's not even acceptable for one, but it's been Tokitae's reality for 52 years.

@ohayitscpa People can speak up about anything. If they're so intent on keeping her at MSQ, they too should raise the alarm about the ongoing poor state of her tank.
There is no excuse for Tokitae's tank to be in this condition. If #Truth4Toki really wants to help her, they can start by at least cleaning her tank. Just because there isn't an audience, it doesn't mean you start neglecting caretaking responsibilities.
I see things at SeaWorld are still the same and haven't improved much. Trainers continue to sustain injuries and bored, under-stimulated orca with poor dental health continue to pick and peel paint from the walls and floors of their tanks.
#truth4toki is a last second, patched up effort by MSQ Trainers to look like Tokitae's only saviors, despite letting her live in poor conditions decade after decade and being silent about it. Advocating doesn't work that way.
I guess I can see why these people are freaking out and linking up all of a sudden. They're 10 yrs late to the party and finally realizing the show is over. Instead of acquiring new job skills their grasping at straws

All it took to disastrously alter the lives of 7 Southern Residents, end the lives of 5, and undoubtedly terrify over 80 others, was the approval of a $100 dollar "take permit." The 1970 Penn Cove capture, is fault of the marine park industry, whether they ever admit that or not.
@RFInukshuk@ThemesRenewed Very sad, truly. Some of the sounds of her home were there, but her family was nowhere to be seen. And she would never see the Southern Residents again.
While @SeaWorld celebrates the debut of their CA park 59yrs ago today, I think of Shamu, San Diego's 1st orca. From watching her mother get harpooned and die, to being hauled away at 3yrs of age, only to die 6yrs later from multiple infections, must've been utter hell for her.
@Guest230@SeaWorld Kalina, Katina's first calf born in 1985 at SeaWorld Orlando, was heavily advertised by SeaWorld, as "Baby Shamu." The media, the public, their audience, completely ate it up. The original Shamu, was probably all but forgotten by then.
The original Shamu was a Southern Resident, believed to be born of J Pod. It's sad to think she was captured so she could be trained to entertain crowds during useless stunts like this. She belonged with her pod where she had a greater purpose. She lasted 6yrs in captivity.
@Guest230@SeaWorld According to Killer Whale wiki, could've been any number of orca at SeaWorld Orlando during that time, including Kotar, Kona II, Katina, Kalina and Kahana.
