"Tapping" into new ideas and ways of thinking about American Orchestras and taking those uninhibited conversations that often happen at the bar to a new level.
You've thought about what excellence is. You've considered what could happen if we shift our priorities. What is one big step orchestras need to take to elevate creativity and participation as priorities?

Do you know a future orchestra leader? Spread the word! Orchestra managers, musicians, and conductors are invited to apply by Aug 16 to the League's Emerging Leaders Program-an unparalleled opportunity to learn and grow, without leaving your orchestra. https://t.co/7IupmWQQt3
Look, running an orchestra is really hard. Our problems are also hard and they require hard solutions. A full-scale, end-to-end remodel to break down silos is no easy solution, I know. But as I say in the talk, “To do nothing means no change in our audience or how we serve them.”
"The arts are a direct force in rural innovation, not just an indirect factor that helps to attract and retain talent." https://t.co/CDsjoKtzBF h/t @citylab
Break 👏 Down 👏 Silos 👏. This is a part of the talk I just gave at @OrchLeague Conference this week, and @McKinsey nails it here. https://t.co/WevxQJoHju @McKQuarterly 1/

Conference speaker tip: don’t ask how many millennials are in the room, see that half the room is comprised of millennials, and then proceed to bash millennials. Yikes. Made for a rough presentation recovery. #Orch2019
@OrchTapRoom@OrchLeague Realize what the orchestra can do to compete with other forms of entertainment. Do some music styles test markets and "trials" to see what people like and/or dislike. They do it with food all the time. 😆
“It’s so interesting, the things we measure express the things we value.” —Shea Scruggs on this fantastic panel on Auditions, Identity, & Culture
He is talking research, data, and (lack of) taxonomy in the field. I have met my match and am dying I am so happy. #Orch2019
@OrchTapRoom@OrchLeague Speaking as a musician -- when you ask for our ideas about programming, marketing, etc., don't stop there...actually try some of them & use data to measure whether or not they work
Good morning #OrchTapRoom peeps and #orch2019! Share your thoughts from conference or any thoughts that might have been spurred by topics here this week! 💭💡📝👇🏻🎶
“The message was not ‘You need Mozart in your life,’ it was, ‘I need you in my Mozart.’” —Alex Laing, Principal Clarinet at @PhoenixSymphony on inviting his friends and networks to his concerto with the orchestra
He stuck the landing on this keynote. #Orch2019
We’ve just issued a major announcement: @OrchLeague President and CEO Jesse Rosen will retire from the League in September 2020. Our Board has formed a Recruitment and Selection Committee: https://t.co/AMZX2AMPG4 #orch2019
