Dear Ordinals Community,
I am the creator of the first fully onchain single-player and multiplayer games (including both collaborative & competitive) built on ordinals (BitcoinBonsai/Flowers4Finney/OnchainChess). I am the creator of the "modscription" feeding mechanic that makes onchain games such as @Pizza_Pets possible. I am also the creator of Toshi, the first digital pets built on bitcoin. While it’s exciting to see our onchain gaming community growing, I feel that the year of hard work put into innovative projects and essential technological contributions, from myself and other builders, is being "erased" by larger and more influential groups. I am hoping to address this constructively by making our community aware of some misinformation that is being shared on X.
A few days ago I sent the message attached further below to @TO and @janbtc. As with other communications that I have sent to @TO earlier in the year, my message was ignored. @janbtc and @Xverse_Support did respond, yet what they said was concerning: "We follow the project’s messaging. We don’t come up with it ourselves." In other words, they have no interest in the truthfulness of the information that their @xverse account publishes to their 120K followers.
The impact of publishing misinformation should not be underestimated. Within the last 24 hours, popular X users such as @kuyamark, @borladayo, @erikalee & @AshleyDCan have unintentionally re-shared this misinformation with their collective 200K followers, describing @Pizza_Pets as "bitcoin’s first digital pet", "breaking boundaries as the first-ever digital pet on Bitcoin", "the first on-chain Tamagotchi-style game on Bitcoin", "the first tamagotchi style pets on Bitcoin" etc.
@Xverse_Support stated that @Pizza_Pets was claiming to be "the first fully on-chain game on Bitcoin", and other people are implying this too ("Gaming on BTC is about to be a game changer"). I am as excited for Pizza Pets as everyone else, and it's great that they are bringing @pizzaninjas and other ordinals communities into the onchain gaming ecosystem. But it's disingenuous to pretend that this ecosystem doesn't already exist. People have been playing fully onchain games via their ordinals for nearly a year now.
Based on the situation described above (more details in my original DM below), I am calling on the @pizzaninjas/@Pizza_Pets team to promptly address these inaccuracies. I also believe it would be respectful for them to publish a "History of Onchain Gaming" piece that covers early innovations in modifiable ordinals from builders such as @lifofifo, @c12hz & @RabbiGains, without which Pizza Pets would not exist, along with my own contributions: the core mechanic underlying the Pizza Pets game, and the first digital pets on bitcoin (Toshi). This would help strengthen the integrity of our growing community, and ensure that important onchain gaming developments, both past and present, are accurately represented.
Here is a relevant excerpt from my March 2024 modscription announcement:
"Modscription is a game-changing development that gives ordinal holders the power to directly modify their assets onchain, without need for a third-party to enact the changes. Set to become an integral part of the future of ordinals."
Finally, below is my original DM to @TO and @janbtc, to which @TO has not yet responded. I have also attached some relevant screenshots from March 2024.

Hi both,
I wanted to voice some concerns that I have over the promotion of Pizza Pets in the hope that we can reach a solution that we are all happy with:
1) An Xverse post recently went out to 120K followers stating Pizza Pets to be "The First On-Chain Tamagotchi-Style Game on Bitcoin". This isn't correct as Pizza Pets hasn't even launched yet, and I launched "Toshi" last month, a tamagotchi / digital pet game where all assets and gameplay are fully onchain. I have been developing this since early 2024 and have now inscribed them and given them all away for free. Xverse/Jan are saying that I need to take this issue up with Trevor, but ultimately I think it is Xverse's responsibility to fact-check their posts. You can't simply release misinformation and then say "someone else told us to say it".
2) The Pizza Pets X profile and website state it to be "Bitcoin’s first digital pet / First digital pet on bitcoin", which also isn't true for the reasons given above. Perhaps you can find something else unique about Pizza Pets to use here, or just make it more general e.g. "A bitcoin digital pet from the creators of Pizza Ninjas"?
3) My understanding is that Pizza Pets will be utilising the "modscription" mechanic (emoji child micro-inscriptions) that I developed in February 2024, and that I first implemented with Bitcoin Bonsai in March. At the time I was actively encouraging other projects to incorporate this tech in order to drive gamification in ordinals. I explained my developments to Leonidas in March who I assume passed these onto your team. With a team/project as large as Trevor / Pizza Ninjas using this tech, I feel that it would be respectful to show some kind of recognition for my contribution?
Ultimately I'm just asking that Xverse, a very successful company with 120K followers, and Trevor / Pizza Ninjas, an equally successful ordinals team with 150K followers, do the "right thing". I am not a successful company/team with hundreds of thousands of followers. I work as a full-time secondary school teacher. I developed modscription and built my Toshi on my own, late in the evenings from a PC in my bedroom. I have no team, not a great deal of money, and very few followers. I am not a threat to either of you in terms of market competition. I'd just really like (a) for the existence of my Toshi collection to not be "erased" by two teams with much greater influence than myself, and (b) for some recognition to be given for my technological contributions to the ordinals space.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Zed
