Episode 6: The Four Horsemen, Part II is now live!
In it, I cover something most histories gloss over: the actual process of invasion and colonization of the island, between the death of Columbus in 1506 and the death of Diego Velázquez in 1524.

After a ton of delays, the next episode of the @OrigenesPodcast is now scheduled to go live on Saturday the 27th at 10:30 EST.
The episode will be the first with professional music (by @yaxx_castillo) & art by Raupa (@/raupagonzalez on Instagram).
Really excited to share!
Update on the podcast:
-editing the recordings is almost done (currently 2/3)
-I did what I said I needed to stop doing and turned this into another really long episode I could have broken into a bunch of separate episodes. This is genuinely a problem at this point
As some of you may have noticed, the pod now has professionally designed art! New intro and outro music, also done by independent Cuban artists, is also done and ready to use so the next episode should look and sound way more professional :)
Super excited to announce that my podcast covering the history of Cuba, from pre-history to the present, @OrigenesPodcast, now has a professionally done logo and banner art by Cuban independent artist Raupa!

Good and bad news re: my Cuba history podcast, @OrigenesPodcast
Good news first: It is absolutely continuing and the next ep is basically 99% written and almost ready to record
Bad news: it probably won't be done until I'm in Cuba, and once in Cuba uploading it will be hard
@IvanTheFreest I definitely will!
I definitely think they’re independence wars *and* civil wars; the big beef of creole elites was their transformation from citizens of Spain who happened to not be in Iberia to members of a colony clearly under Spain as part of the liberal constitution in 1837

Then I can launch into the episode on Cuba between the 1520s and 1550s or so (that's the plan right now anyway) which I also plan to make into a 20-30 min episode instead of another of the hour long marathons. This should help get eps out faster.
Since I should use this account more to provide updates on the pod, here is the current status of the next episode:
Instead of making another hour long marathon, I cut the Europe and Cuba halves of the episode outline in half and am almost done on the research for Europe part
By early May my reading should be entirely done and I can start writing, which given the shorter episode length and how much more familiar I am with the first half of the sixteenth century, means it should go pretty quickly and smoothly

As per policy, btw, here is the bibliography used in the episode. This is just the bib actually cited and doesn't include the full list of texts consulted.
The next episode will likely have an even longer bibliographical list.
Excited to announce that the latest episode of the podcast is now live! It is basically a special episode on Columbus' role in colonizing the Caribbean, following his career from 1492 until his death
Please give it a listen & rate the pod if you enjoyed!

Episode 5 of the podcast, The Four Horsemen, Part I, is currently live for Patrons and will go public on Monday, 10th of October, Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day.
This is a fitting bit of timing because the episode is all about Columbus' wars to colonize the Caribbean.
Important update: the research phase of the next episode of the podcast is now done.
The next episode, covering the conquest and colonization of Hispaniola and then Cuba from 1492-1524, can now move into the outlining phase, then writing.
