Vagif Khachatryan: "I am an innocent individual; I was not present at the scene.
I can testify that those individuals did not see me there and could not have seen me; I am not the person who could have been present. I had a good rapport with these villagers, and they with me.
Those testifying here claim they saw me throughout the village. The armed individuals saw me, but they didn't shoot at me. I ask - if they saw me, why didn't they shoot? They fall silent, avoiding the topic, along with 7-8 other people. Strangers arrive here, not knowing me, but within two minutes, they claim they saw me there because I'm the only one standing here.
I am an innocent person; I did not participate in these battles. There is a technique that discerns whether a person is speaking the truth or lying. If such a possibility exists, I request that my words be tested using this technique".
The Baku military "court" has sentenced Vagif Khachatryan, who was abducted from an illegal checkpoint in the Lachin corridor, to 15 years of imprisonment. He will serve the first 5 years in prison and the subsequent 10 in a high-security penitentiary.
Let us remember that during the summer, ICRC staff intended to transport Vagif Khachatryan to Armenia for emergency heart surgery, and this current sentence is tantamount to a death sentence.
It’s pathetic that the “good vs. evil” crowd who waxes eloquent about Russia-Ukraine has *absolutely nothing* to say about Azerbaijan-Armenia. The reason why is the same reason for everything else in D.C.: special interests. Azerbaijan & Ukraine have exceptionally powerful lobbies, while Armenia does not.
I drive a four-cylinder, I come from nothing but I'm doing something
And you cannot catch my drive
As fast as you try to go, you will never catch me, man
There is only one way, and this way I'm driving, nobody can do it…
