Research dedicated to studying the emergence of autocatalytic reaction networks & their Darwinian evolution using theoretical & experimental approaches!
The triennial meeting of ISSOL will finally happen next year after not seeing the light of day in 2022! V.Eagerly look forward to the wide variety of talks, the various interactions & debates, & the fun people who attend that always makes this meeting a must-go for OoL folks!😍
What does it take for an autocatalytic network within a prebiotic compartment to display heredity? Yoshiya takes this question on. Read the paper here :
Robustness of compositional heredity to the growth and division dynamics of prebiotic compartments - https://t.co/8C46UktbSj
An experimental paper demonstrating RNA auto- and cross-catalytic reaction network in coacervate compartments. Led by the indomitable Sandeep Ameta, Manoj Kumar and Nayan Chakraborty.
Multispecies autocatalytic RNA reaction networks in coacervates - https://t.co/n4S7uObrpc
Book Alert!: I'm excited to contribute a chapter to the @RoySocChem book on #Prebiotic chemistry and #OriginsOfLife.
It's a good piece of work from some of the experts in the field, with extensive information on the most recent advancements!

#AcademicTwitter! Autocatalysis is back! My latest paper with dear not-on-Twitter mentor Stuart Kauffman shows: 6683 prokaryotic metabolic nets contain autocatalytic networks of variable sizes. 300 reactions are conserved in aut nets of ≥2732 proks! https://t.co/h9TDxtLgk6 /1
Our Friday morning began with a talk by Yoshiya Matsubara (@YJMatsubara) titled:
Error catastrophe can be avoided by proofreading innate to template-directed polymerization
He talked about his recent collaborative work on solving the 'error catastrophe' problem in replication.
📢With eight great years of #teaching, we are thrilled to announce '9th annual lecture series in advanced biology' on '#feedback systems in biology'🤩

New preprint in @ChemRxiv! We studied lipid self-assembly using Molecular Dynamics and observed kinetic influences of micellar compositions. This constitutes a simple recursive selection, enabling reproduction and evolution, relevant to the Origin of Life.

So last week we published a new paper in @NatRevChem where we strongly argue life may have emerged from micelles - nanoscopic lipid assemblies - and review both untapped and emerging experimental reports that support this scenario.
We've been receiving some great applications for this PostDoc/Research Fellow position, but rolling applications for it are still open!
If you'd be interested in working at the interface of #RNABiology, #Biophysics & #MachineLearning, send in your applications at the earliest!
Don't miss this exciting talk by @thattai for a drive through the #eukaryotic vesicle traffic network and how #GraphTheory can help us understand the constraints placed on such transport networks!
