A consortium of four like-minded organisations working to address health inequalities across East North East Leeds: Engaging People & Inspiring Communities
Remembering Bob, legendary performance at Headingley to beat the Aussies. He died of Prostate Cancer, a male cancer that takes 12000 lives a year....and yet it can be easily checked and treated. No excuses #Leedsmen, if you're over 45, ask for a PSA test at your docs
Robert George Dylan Willis: 1949-2019
Five years ago today, the world lost Bob Willis.
We will continue to fight for his legacy and spread awareness around Prostate Cancer.
RIP Bob

We always need to be ready to be Don below ❤️ Too many men die to suicide...and every single one is avoidable. Be prepared to show someone some worth, some empathy, a little light to that dark cloud hanging over him #menshealth#suicideawareness@mhuleeds
This really is great news! And our @mhuleeds project has been at the heart of this stategy for a number of years. Good for men, good for #Leedsmen#menshealth
Fantastic news. Yet to be confirmed but hearing from our top secret moles that many of the new intake of Labour MPs have signed up to the APPG on issues affecting men and boys. Enormously encouraging & a sign of a real change in the political mood around men's health & wellbeing.
Every suicide is one too many. I set off a park run in Rothwell last week in memory of a male suicide.
Men - speak to your nearest and dearest, they'll love you more for it, get involved in groups, whether fixing guitars or going to @andysmanclubuk You'll find help everywhere.
A fantastic event down at @KirkgateMarket on Sat 29 June, focussing on everything to do with men's health and mental health. Get yourself down for an inspiring, informative, fun event

84 men a week die from suicide! That number is incomprehensible. As a society, we must & can do so much better. Find ways for men to offload, seek help, get support that suits them, and feel a valued active man. That's what @mhuleeds are working hard at!!! #Leedsmen#menshealth
On average 84 men a week die by suicide in the UK, we want to show men we’re here for them EVERY day, so were doing 84 Push Ups a day for #MensHealthWeek equating to 588 Push ups this week.

The main focus of #menshealthweek2024 Prostate Cancer is something that can affect all men, particularly within the black community (see OP) Check your own risk, know the symptoms, see your GP, help raise awareness #Leedsmen#menshealth
1 in 8 men & people with a prostate will get prostate cancer at some point in their life.
Check your risk of prostate cancer in 30 seconds https://t.co/JSohMPqz20, please share this link with friends/family, to encourage them to check.
If you are at risk, speak to your GP.❤
Let's ensure that there are spaces relevant to men, so that speaking up and out is comfortable and the norm. Men do speak, so long as the right spaces and meeting points are there
#Leedsmen#menshealth@mhuleeds
Stigma can shame people into silence. Rather than telling men to 'man up', we should encourage them to open up and share their feelings.
Let's move away from outdated stereotypes and embrace the reality that seeking help is a sign of strength and resilience.❤️

@MrMadrigalOBE@ThisIsSurvivors What a revealing read that, as you state, many may not even recognise as abuse until something like BR helps open their eyes a little wider. A continual quest for men to find the opps & spaces to talk about their health and experiences👏👏
Thank you so much to @Athena_Stavrou from me and @ThisIsSurvivors for writing a really respectful, compassionate and genuinely interested interview in the @Independent. The article is brilliant https://t.co/9QbW99pJBi - it's journalists like you that are part of the solution!
