A mother’s love is prevention.
The conversations.
The boundaries.
The checking in.
The uncomfortable moments.
The staying involved.
These moments matter more than we realize.
In a time when fentanyl and substance abuse continue impacting families and communities across the country, prevention starts at home and connection matters.
MAPDA is committed to helping families start conversations earlier, stay informed, and protect future generations through prevention, awareness, and education.

In recovery, we need to sit with our pain, listen to it, and honor our feelings. We can liken it to letting ourselves sink into the sea of our emotions before learning how to swim back up to the surface. Indeed, it is often the only way we can rise from the depths of pain.
Alcohol is one of the most commonly used addictive substances and is closely associated with psychological dependence and cravings.

There is progress, but the crisis is not over.
Recent data shows overdose deaths in the U.S. are declining after years of increase, with some reports indicating a significant drop in recent years. This is an encouraging sign that prevention efforts are making an impact.
However, fentanyl and synthetic opioids continue to drive the majority of overdose deaths, and thousands of lives are still lost each year.
One pill can still take a life.
Prevention is working. But we are not done.

Having DID is, for many people, a very lonely thing. Clinicians, and all others whose lives are touched by DID, need to grasp the fundamentally illusive nature of memory, because memory, or the lack of it, is an integral component of this condition.
