I have decided the best mean between the extremes is not to delete the account but to remain on here less,
I will go back to writing and away from doom posting. I will occasionally share thoughts on here, but will likely share links more often in group chats and Discord.
@VotePutsch Not really. Augustine’s views of predestination were dialectical and leave room for interpretation, one interpretation leads to Calvinism. But he never explicitly states that any person is willed to hell from eternity.
Calvinism is far more explicit in this regard.
This. Some counties ballot counts are near complete while others are as low as 10%.
Highly likely the November election will be Hilton vs Becerra, but there’s a reason it hasn’t been called yet.
Bianco and Porter are out though.
@RawlJohns Beccerra or Steyer will be governor (he is technically still alive; Porter and Bianco are out though).
People that voted for one Dem candidate, will vote for the other come November if Hilton makes it past the primaries (which looks very likely).
@BartonRMShaw Eleanore Stump makes a good case for a “unitarian” reading of Augustine that doesn’t rely on doctrinal assumptions.
Worth noting that no major commentators took him to teach “double predestination” until the 9th century.
My pastor from when I was in grad school died of cancer this morning.
Very good man. Someone who genuinely pastored and listened to the circumstances of the faithful.
@OnceFutureCh I think Augustine’s views on predestination are greatly misunderstood tbh.
This is how you can have someone like Calvin and someone like Eriugena both claiming to be following Augustine.
