Somali referee Omar Artan, who was denied entry into the USA ahead of the World Cup, has now been appointed by UEFA to officiate PSG vs. Aston Villa in the Super Cup final.
PRESS RELEASE: The Federal Republic of Somalia expresses its regret over the denial of entry to Somali international referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan. We remain immensely proud of his achievements. Welcome home, Omar. The Somali people stand proudly with you.
What an absolute disgrace. A FIFA-certified referee being denied entry to the United States purely because he is Somali.
The World Cup is meant to bring people together. This is racism, plain and simple. Shameful.

I’m very happy to have cast my vote today for the first time in the local council elections in Mogadishu, Somalia. I voted earlier at the Hodan polling station.
A historic moment in my lifetime.

SOCOTU Welcomes ILO Credentials Committee’s “Stand for Justice”
The Somali Congress of Trade Unions (SOCOTU) today held a press conference in Mogadishu, hailing what it described as a “clear stand for justice” by the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Credentials Committee regarding Somalia’s worker representation.
SOCOTU President Mohamed Haji praised the Committee’s decision, delivered on 12 June 2025 during the 113th International Labour Conference, as a landmark acknowledgment of the need for transparency, inclusivity, and fairness in selecting Somalia’s Workers’ delegate to the ILO.
“This is a victory for the principle that Somali workers are not invisible,” Haji said. “The ILO has made it clear that our government must consult all representative organizations not just one and base decisions on objective, verifiable criteria. That is justice.”
The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, in its response to the Credentials Committee, admitted it had consulted only one organization it deemed most representative, but provided no documentary proof of that claim or evidence of broader consultations.
The Committee concluded it could not confirm compliance with Article 3(5) of the ILO Constitution, urging the Ministry to ensure that, where more than one representative workers’ organization exists, future nominations be made in agreement with all and based on documented, objective criteria.
At the press conference, SOCOTU announced plans to expand its “Visibility and Justice” campaign, aimed at securing inclusive consultations, strengthening labor rights, and building alliances with unions across Africa.
“The Committee’s decision is a reminder that representation is a right, not a privilege,” Haji declared. “We will continue to demand it in Geneva, in Mogadishu, and everywhere Somali workers’ voices must be heard.
NEW PIRATES OF PUNTLAND
The UAE-backed PMPF is now claiming they’ve “released” the vessel they allegedly seized but here’s the truth: the ship had to remain in the area due to weather conditions. Remember what they did just a few weeks ago? Same group, same script. First, they said they caught a Turkish national who had joined ISIS in Somalia turned out he was Moroccan. The next day, they claimed, “No, it wasn’t him, it was another Turkish guy.” Another one also turned out to be Jordanian.
Now they’re trying the same cheap propaganda trick claiming they seized a Turkish ship carrying weapons, as if to intimidate Türkiye. But the ship wasn’t even carrying weapons — it was transporting military vehicles to Somalia, a friendly and brotherly nation.
Deni, one day the Somali people will hold you and that small circle you share UAE’s dirty money with accountable for these petty and fabricated games. Here’s a word of advice: Türkiye is not like the ragtag militias you toy with it’s a force too big to swallow, and it will choke you if you try.
Netanyahu is not the President of the United States.
He should not be determining U.S. foreign and military policy.
If the people of Israel support his decision to start a war with Iran, that is their business and their war.
The United States must not be a part of it.
Terrorist state, Zionist will regret the invasion to Iran. All islamic nations need to support and stand with Iran as western supporting to Zionist for everything they might require.
