Oscar Thompson

Psychology student @ HWU. Can be funny at times. Currently completing my final UG year... and panicking about it.

[Oscar Thompson @OscThompson]

Over the moon that I officially started research today with @MioCristea and @onicatam doing a UG Vacation Scholarship funded by @CarnegieUni! Looking forward to providing updates and sharing more throughout the process this summer!🎉

[Mioara Cristea-Sanmarty, PhD @MioCristea]

Delighted to be starting work on a project today with @OscarTh25348966 as @CarnegieUni UG Summer Vacation Researcher. In collaboration with @onicatam we'll be looking into #cultural & #socialtransmission and #vaccination #behaviours

My dissertation study is now live!!
If you’re a student aged 17-25 and have a spare 15 minutes, please consider taking part in this short questionnaire about your experiences of coping during the COVID-19 pandemic. https://t.co/yw8ZfBYJxK

If you want to understand ‘The social anxiety paradox’ and my own personal struggles with social anxiety, including not wanting to promote this 😂, then join me tomorrow. #socialanxiety #anxiety #anxietydisorders

[Oscar Thompson @OscThompson]

@Roseanna_PfH @BPSOfficial I did non peer-reviewed research over the summer looking into the specific social influences contributing to vaccine hesitancy in young students, if that’s any help?

[Oscar Thompson @OscThompson]

Honoured and privileged to have been part of a #seminar yesterday with @HWPsych discussing my @CarnegieUni vacation scholarship. It’s the gift that keeps on giving!! 🎁Thank you to all that came, and for @ClaireRPsych and Dina Roggero for presenting with me 😁 #nervousenergy

[Mioara Cristea-Sanmarty, PhD @MioCristea]

Very proud to see @OscThompson presenting the findings from his @CarnegieUni Studentship on the #culturaltransmission of #attitudes & #behaviours regarding #Covid19 #vaccination

Having some fun over the past couple days designing my @CarnegieUni #VacationScholarship #poster, trying to make the usual #academic methodology slightly less boring... slide is too busy right now but a work in progress! (and a FUN one!)

[Oscar Thompson @OscThompson]

#rstats #help?! imported the excel file using click and point method. All my columns are data-type 'character', so age is not 'numerical' and i cannot do any analysis on any column. can I import my data differently so numerical columns are put in as strings? Any help appreciated!

[Optomize @OptomizeLtd]

@OscThompson She has a PhD from Crufts. 😂

[Oscar Thompson @OscThompson]

BTW #rstatswizards, am I doing anything inefficiently? In all seriousness, I'd love for you to tell me, in as many ways as possible, how wrong I am or how much time I am wasting 🤗 #rstats berating will help me be a better #datascientist so please fire in!

[Oscar Thompson @OscThompson]

Took me about 4 hours today to write this code - just tidying raw data up. Took the opp. to learn new #excelformulas for re-naming variables. The formulas took longer to learn than renaming manually, but the extra time has built Excel #transferableskills!😎#rstats #statistics

I wish I had half of the impressive CV that Sloan has 😔

Our new website is coming along extremely well and it won’t be long until it’s up and running but we have already got an instinct about who will be our favourite member of staff.🤔😂 #eyetracking #medEd #MedTech #surgery #regionalanaesthesia #medicaltwitter # #performance

With @onicatam @MioCristea, I'm doing #research into #COVID19vaccination attitudes of students in the UK.
#Students are under-researched despite many are NOW being offered vaccination.

Big thank you to @BrownGenavee for providing helpful insight into #recruitmentstrategies and how to reach people about your study in a meaningful way. Today we crossed 100 responses to our #survey! Please voice your vaccine opinion if you haven't already: https://t.co/Bh7YZQOEpY

Wk5 - applying #rstats learning today: spent 1 hour trying to understand how to adapt my imported excel data into a 'data frame' format, only to find that it had been in that format from the moment I imported it. I am terrified of what the second hurdle will hold.

[Oscar Thompson @OscThompson]

@IsabellaGhement @CMastication @thomas_mock so glad! Your words of wisdom have only kept me going since I started putting my practice into action today... there was lots of shouting at my screen!!

[Oscar Thompson @OscThompson]

Started learning RStudio today(!) for the 1st time guided by @thomas_mock. Felt comfort in this diagram provided - as much as I love stats, I will be getting floored for the foreseeable. Looking forward to ensuing tears and relying on the #rstats community!
