"We are heartbroken but also very angry. Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital," the family said in a statement provided to CNN.

He was swarmed, beaten, and disarmed by vicious federal agents who were looking for someone to hurt. Then, the Trump administration proceeded to immediately falsely smear him as a "terrorist" who wanted to carry out a mass shooting against law enforcement. They're utterly shameless.

He cared about those people, and he knew it was wrong, so he did participate in protests.”
