Before she passed away, I interviewed my mum about her life story.
I wouldn't delete this footage for $1 billion.
If your loved ones are still alive, you're sitting on over a billion dollars worth of personal value.
Go interview them ❤️
I interviewed my mum about her life story a few years before she passed away, and turned it into a 30-minute documentary film.
The idea that my great-great-great-great grandchildren might devote 30 minutes to learning about my mum's life is an incredibly beautiful thought.
It kinda sucks how we don't see our own families as institutions (à la Rockefeller, Kennedy, the British royal family, even the Kardashian-Jenners)
We aren't raised to think of our family as a living story of characters and dynasties. I wish we placed more importance on that.
"I'm not interesting enough to be interviewed about my life story."
Compared to whom? Who's this hypothetical person you're comparing yourself to?
Sit in the damn chair and tell me about working at a pub in Glasgow in 1987.
I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want to know.
Nothing makes you more grateful to be alive than thinking about the BILLIONS of tiny events that had to line up in order for you to even exist.
When you interview your parents/grandparents about their life story, all you can think is how IMPOSSIBLE your life is.
Best thing about trying to start a business that you genuinely believe in, is that every so often you get this random flash of unbridled optimism.
I know that, in its most successful implementation, the thing I'm trying to build could legitimately change the world, even if in a small way.
I might be nowhere with it so far, but the worthiness of the concept is enough to keep me going.
@thepatwalls Hey Pat, here's one of my reels, and a link to my showreel, DM me w/ a link to your footage and I'll get on it :)

We lost our beautiful Mum almost a year ago to complications from lymphoma. She was 57 years old.
Verena was the best of us, and the very nicest person you could meet.
She always had a soft spot for the Great North Run, so we’re running it in her memory on September 10th, and raising money for @MaggiesCentres.

@tishray I'm very thankful for this. Have had some awful experiences in the recent past which my brain has taken upon itself to nip, tuck and dilute into something more manageable.
I wouldn't even call it repression, just the mind engaging in some kind of self-preservation I guess.
NEW VIDEO!
If you like the idea of making a lifereel for someone you love, but you don't think they'd have the confidence to be interviewed on camera, this video shares some things you could say to convince them!

5. It doesn't have to be a daily commitment!
In fact, it shouldn't be - not every day is a rollercoaster! Most people stop journaling because they break their streak, but you shouldn't even have a streak with your video diary.
Only add to it when you feel you need to.
