Monday Jan. 9, last night, several of our seasonal 3-D light pieces were damaged beyond repair. Most disturbing, the person or persons caused great damage to Statue of Joy, a much-loved sculpture that's been on Sparks Street for decades.

@DevineSean@WCDRelief is Ward 5’s volunteer organization that was created to help with this exact issue, and to fill the void in response. They are a wonderful resource and are keen to partner any way they can!
@Equalcanadian@atRachelGilmore Yep. Watched all of this live on tv. It was the weekend after everyone was told for weeks to leave. Cheered out loud. They were given ample opportunity to legaly protest, given almost free reign for nearly 3 weeks. They got what they were warned they were gonna get.
@NSaravanamuttoo Thank you for letting us know. I hope they are getting a well deserved rest for a little while. We are here, ready to support the next adventure. With much admiration and care.
No OPP reports to go on, wasn't part of any briefings. All I knew is from what I saw. Jan 27th, 8:30 PM. One truck and about 10 cars parked on Wellington. That in itself surprised me. Clip of comments I made to a friend the following morning. #ottnews#ottcity
