Let me tell you what actually happened. You people should calm.

Dangote didn’t reverse anything. Don’t let anyone sell you that story.

The refinery converted the dollar economics into a naira price and called it a resolution.

Government pressure and marketers struggling to source dollars forced the switch back on paper.

But look at what actually happened to the number. Petrol has moved from N1,075 to N1,215 per litre.

This is not a reversal thing my people. This is the same dollar cost wearing a naira costume. The payment currency changed. The underlying economics did not move an inch.

If anything this confirms what the entire episode was really about. Dangote was never confused about what currency to charge in.

It was telling Nigeria, in the clearest language possible, that naira pricing only survives when it can catch up to dollar reality. The moment it does, everyone celebrates a “return” that actually cost us N140 more per litre.

Call it what it is. Its not a win but a rebrand. Either ways, it strengthens naira in disguise. Dangote is a core strength of Nigeria economy.
