You done it before , kindly come do it one more time bro. Just watched a TikTok video of a group threatening an Ugandan in South Africa , he was so scared and he looked like he had no way out. 🤦🏿♂️
My guy @francis_isano is back with the second edition of #ThroughTheLens photojournalism exhibition and yes we must turn up.
See you at @nextmediaug Park on 7th August.
Amidst heavy criticism and hate speech from very many players, this man @eddykenzoficial managed to convince the government to put the creative sector on the list of sectors they plan for.
This is a sector that had been neglected by government for the longest yet it employs very many Ugandans who are tax payers like others.
Eddy Kenzo paused whatever was making him busy including his international music business and started knocking these government offices one by one with negotiation as his approach , not riots, social media campaigns or fights but through negotiations and they gave him the attention.
He showed them the need for government to support the creative sector, he showed them what government looses when they don’t support the creatives and how they can benefit if they support this sector.
When govt was fully convinced, H.E the president appointed Eddy Kenzo to advise him on this very sector & as we speak today , the creative sector has appeared in the national budget for the second time with UGX 33B.
This is not money diverted from making roads or hospitals, No. those have been given theirs too , this money has been allocated to support the creative sector 👏👏.
I want you @eddykenzoficial to know that your time has not been wasted, you’ve played your part so well and the future generations will read about you, not only as a creative that sold Ugandan content to the world but also as a leader that transformed the creative sector in Uganda.
APPRECIATION MESSAGE
Yesterday, 16th June 2026, the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) officially unveiled the new Ugandan Copyright Management System (CMS) to creatives and various stakeholders in the creative industry.
The CMS is built on three key pillars: Registration, Collection, and Distribution. Once fully operational, the system is expected to enhance the protection and monetization of creative works, enabling creatives to earn more effectively from their talent and intellectual property.
A live demonstration of the system was conducted by the team that developed it, led by the State House Science Engineers, showcasing how the platform will operate and benefit rights holders.
This milestone is a result of the engagement between UNMF and H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who recognized the existing gap in ensuring that creatives fully benefit from the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Amendment Act. The President subsequently directed UNMF to work with the State House Science Team to develop a practical solution, leading to the creation of the CMS.
From inception, the system has been developed through a collaborative effort involving several key stakeholders, including UNMF, UCC, URSB, UPRS, the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Local Government, Uganda Police Force, NIRA, URA, and many others. Their involvement has ensured that the system is integrated with relevant institutions to facilitate efficient implementation and operation.
The unveiling attracted notable artists and creatives from across Uganda, reflecting UNMF’s commitment to ensuring national representation and inclusivity. This approach is intended to ensure that creatives from all regions of the country move together in understanding and benefiting from the new system.
As UNMF, we shall now embark on a nationwide awareness campaign to educate creatives about the CMS, its benefits, and how it works.
We are also pleased to announce that H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to officially launch the Copyright Management System on a date that will be communicated in due course.
In a special way, I extend my sincere gratitude to H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the Government of Uganda for their unwavering support throughout this process.
I also wish to thank all the creatives, stakeholders, partners, and guests who attended and witnessed this historic milestone in the development of Uganda’s creative industry.
Together, we are building a stronger and more sustainable future for Ugandan creatives.
Asante Sana.
Edrisah Kenzo Musuuza
