Today we saw ‘rainbow clouds’. (Nacreous Clouds)
They happen when there are very low temperatures in the stratosphere. Water particles turn into tiny ice crystals in the sky. As the sun dips below the horizon, the light rays hit the crystals and refract, scattering the light.
D really enjoyed the Christmas Maths event at @monksabbey with @AbbeyAccessT yesterday. The challenges were great & it was amazing to see so many people there. D loved her prizes & was very happy with them. The parent gift will be very useful too! A big thank you from us!
We have loved #WalkToSchoolWeek We managed 3 days and even made it to school on time today! It’s been great to slow down, chat to each other, and notice more around us as we’ve walked. Holly has loved a long morning walk, and has enjoyed finding lots of sticks to carry as well.
It’s #WalkToSchoolWeek so we did just that! It made a nice change from the usual cycle, and we were lucky with the beautiful weather this morning. Holly loved her early walk & meeting some of the staff who came out to say hi to her. D loved that Holly took her to school.
And Holly didn’t miss out on the dressing up for World Book Day, although she wasn’t quite so enthusiastic. D loved briefly making her the Very Hungry Caterpillar. 🐛🤣
World Book Day 2023 📚
Why dress up as someone else, when you can be yourself?
And that’s just what D did. She was lucky enough to be featured in a book, which she’s very proud about. She took her most favourite toy to school as he's in the book too. They had a great day. 😍
It was Fred’s (one of the favourite toys)
Birthday at the weekend. D wanted to celebrate, so she made him a chocolate cake. She made, iced and decorated it with very little grown up help. It was delicious! 🎂😋
*not sure why the sunglasses, & she ate a slice before the photo 🕶️
D watched some Masterchef & was inspired to make Chicken Satay. She helped to make it tonight & really enjoyed it. It was very tasty & easy to do too.
D was off school today as she was sick yesterday. She’s absolutely fine today thankfully. She wanted to use the air dry clay, so we made some canopic jars. She told me all about the ones she’s made at school for the Ancient Egyptians topic. Ours are a little less ancient looking.
Frozen bubbles 🫧
This is a great activity to do early on frosty mornings. How fascinating to see the bubbles freeze right in front of your eyes!
You need the ground to be really cold & frozen for it to work.
Tonight’s puppy story time was The Great Dog Bottom Swap. Thank you @lorrainelewis7 for lending the book. We all really enjoyed it & D loved learning why dogs sniff each others bottoms when they meet.
@HudsonsJane @monksabbey Im sure she’d love to tell you all about Holly & show you photos too. She loves Holly so much & I think she’s Holly’s favourite person too. 😍
Thank you to all the staff and children at @monksabbey who were so kind and caring to D when she hurt herself this afternoon. We are so lucky to have such a lovely school! She made it home in one piece & is feeling much better after some medicine and Holly puppy cuddles.
