OUR ENUGU • B’Anyi Movement| A people-driven movement promoting service, opportunity, progress, culture, and a shared vision for an economically stronger Enugu.
MR. PETER MBAH, THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!
It is disturbing and completely unacceptable that under the administration of Mr. Peter Mbah, teachers in Enugu State are reportedly being threatened with disciplinary action for failing to attend a political rally organised to endorse him for a second term.
A query letter reportedly issued by the Igbo-Etiti Local Government Education Authority demands that teachers explain within 48 hours why they should not face disciplinary action for failing to attend what the letter describes as a mandatory political mobilisation event held on October 10, 2026.
If this letter is authentic, it represents a disturbing abuse of public authority.
Teachers are civil servants, not political campaign agents. Their responsibility is to educate our children, not to serve as instruments of political mobilisation for Mr. Peter Mbah or any political party.
In a state where many teachers continue to struggle with poor remuneration, inadequate welfare and difficult working conditions, the government’s priority should be improving their lives, not threatening their livelihoods because they failed to attend a political rally.
We cannot continue to treat the people who educate our children this way.
These are men and women who dedicate their lives to raising the next generation of Enugu citizens. Many of them are struggling to meet their basic needs, yet instead of addressing their welfare, we are seeing reports of threats of disciplinary action over political participation.
Since when did attending a political rally become part of a teacher’s job description?
What happened to freedom of association? What happened to the right of every citizen to support or refuse to support a political party without intimidation?
Mr. Peter Mbah and his administration must understand that the resources and institutions of Enugu State belong to the people of Enugu State, not to the APC or any political organisation.
Political support should be earned through good governance, not demanded through threats, intimidation or the fear of losing one’s job.
If teachers are happy with your administration, they should be free to support you voluntarily. If they are not, they should equally be free to stay away without consequences.
This is one of the things we are going to do differently @ourenugu@OurEnugu, we believe that government should work for the people, not the other way around.
We will build a state where teachers are respected, properly remunerated and allowed to concentrate on educating our children.
We will build a state where civil servants can carry out their duties without being pressured to demonstrate political loyalty to whoever occupies the Government House.
We will build a state where people will not need to be forced to participate in political activities that primarily benefit politicians and their cronies.
And most importantly, we will build an Enugu State where political loyalty is earned through performance, accountability and genuine service to the people, not through intimidation.
The people of Enugu deserve better. Our teachers deserve better. And we must begin to demand better.

No one licks ass like some of my fellow Enugu youths who have graduated from university but have no jobs.
It breaks my heart every time I see young, educated graduates in Enugu following politicians around, licking their asses just to survive.
The worst part is that these politicians do not empower them with anything substantial that could give them financial independence. Instead, they deliberately keep them dependent on crumbs.
I was shocked when I spoke with one of these young graduates and discovered that all he was getting was between ₦30,000 and ₦50,000 a month.
How exactly is a university graduate supposed to survive on ₦30,000 to ₦50,000 a month in today’s Nigeria?
And what future is he supposed to build with that?
This is one of the biggest problems we must confront in Enugu State. We cannot continue to raise educated young people only to turn them into political praise singers who depend on politicians for their daily bread.
One of the major focuses of our vision for @ourenugu will be JOB CREATION. Real, visible, sustainable job creation. Not the kind of job creation politicians announce at press conferences without meaningful opportunities for our young people.
We must build an Enugu where young graduates can find decent jobs, earn a living, start businesses, and build their futures without having to follow politicians around begging for survival.
Our young people need opportunities, not political handouts. They need economic freedom, not permanent dependency on politicians.
An Enugu where a young man must lick a politician’s ass to survive is not the Enugu we should be building.
Enugu is one of those cities in Nigeria where you can live a peaceful, private, and comfortable life.
I spent three months in Enugu and enjoyed everything the city had to offer without many people even knowing I was there.
I love my state. ❤️
