The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that children born in the United States to parents who are unlawfully or temporarily present are U.S. citizens at birth under the Fourteenth Amendment, striking down President Trump's executive order restricting birthright citizenship as unconstitutional.

Chief Justice John Roberts delivered the opinion of the Court, joined by Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Amy Coney Barrett, and Ketanji Brown Jackson.

Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, and Samuel Alito dissented. Justice Brett Kavanaugh concurred in part and dissented in part.
