Open letter to @SenatorAshby that we hope she will take notice of…if she’s still a champion for women and children https://t.co/QWdM9bCLgH. Everyone should take note of the decisions being made by @Mayor_Steinberg and @HopeCooperative
Let’s not forget the sac city council meeting where you stood up for women and children and said "you are going to pull this, right? What I think I hear you saying Mayor, is...."

Can you spot the differences in these two city of Sacramento park maps? If you care at all about green space nefariously disappearing you’d better take a look! https://t.co/hjLdAZFOjf via @Change
WHAT: Sacramento County District Attorney Thien Ho will announce next steps after the 30-day legal notice to the City of Sacramento to address unhoused encampments. DA Thien Ho will be available for one-on-one interviews immediately following the press conference.
From January 1-July 31 of 2023, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office has taken the approach to actively enforce the law in our homeless community against serious and violent criminal activity. We have found that the unhoused community is vulnerable to violent crime especially women who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Everyone deserves to be safe, whether they are housed or not.
“The other part of the job includes finding a roof for those experiencing homelessness. But as members of the team will tell you, there are beds available, but many won't be used. Propps said most people they offer beds to don't accept them.”https://t.co/iTaYmcnDbn
Chans comments: bogus, the city is NOT in compliance with Measure o, andsay so themselves! Has he read the response residents are receiving?“While the City has exhausted its budgeting limits for FY2023/24 AND IS NOT REQUIRED TO ADHERE TO THE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS of the ESEA…”
Time for the city/Hope Cooperative to find a better solution- in a better building that has the right configuration- aka county’s safe stay communities- not mats on the floor in a former museum layout with congregate dormitories.
But don’t take our word- ask and investigate!
The perception of people being “passed out” due to drugs/alcohol is not always the only reason for this type of behavior. If they are using they need help for that but won’t find it at the OEC. And if they aren’t using but go there to find services to get back on their feet…
…people who stay there and you’ll find out some “interesting” things about how this center is actually being managed ) and consequently these people are in need of rest even more when they leave in the AM than when they are given a mat to lie down on the night before.
