This tweet is for the people struggling in silence:
You’re not alone, even when you feel it
You’re strong, even if you don’t see it
You’re brave, even if you don’t feel it
Boys can struggle, too.
Boys can be sad, too.
Boys can cry, too.
Boys can have a mental illness, too.
It doesn’t make them less “manly”. It makes them human.
Take the time to cry if you need to. Take the time to rest if you need to. Take the time to be sad if you need to. You don’t have to be happy all the time to be getting better.
Important:
You can still have good days whenever you have a mental illness. Just because someone has a good day doesn't mean they're "faking it" or they're "cured".
Congratulations if:
You got out of bed today.
You did your dishes or dirty laundry.
You finished something you've been putting off.
You cleaned your room.
You found a reason to smile.
Little victories are important.
It’s okay to not be positive all the time.
You’re going to make mistakes.
You’re going to have bad days.
You’re going to be negative moments.
That’s life. And that’s okay.
Important reminders:
Stop blaming yourself for what someone else did to you.
Stop blaming yourself for what someone else said to you.
Stop blaming yourself for someone else hurting you.
Daily reminder:
Don't be so hard on yourself.
It takes time to get better.
Don't compare your journey to anyone else's.
You will get where you need to be.
You are always going to be stronger than you think you are.
You’re stronger than your thoughts.
You’re stronger than your illness.
You’re stronger than your anxiety.
You’re stronger than your depression.
