Foreign governments should have nothing to do with how we enforce laws in Texas!

Discussed how the Lee Gilley case may open Pandora’s Box on @FoxNews.

"Texas State Representative Brian Harrison told Fox News Digital he's very concerned about the prospect of a European country controlling how criminals are sentenced in his state.

"You're almost opening Pandora's box in sort of a roundabout way, allowing ... some of those European socialist soft on crime liberal politicians to be able to wield influence over what happens in Texas courts," Harrison said. "I do not want foreign governments, foreign officials, foreign courts having anything to do with how we enforce criminal laws here in the state of Texas."

"What's to stop them from moving the goalposts even further?"

He also said this could create a horrible precedent for future suspects who may want to find creative ways to reduce their potential sentence.

"If you can somehow, once you're out on bond, just touch foot on foreign soil and then turn the extradition hearings into basically a way to whittle down potential punishments ... the implications are profound and very concerning to me," Harrison said."

PROPERTY TAXES ARE SKYROCKETING all over Texas right now (exactly as I predicted last session).

Local elected officials are blaming the state government... and the state government is blaming the locals.

Spoiler alert: they're BOTH correct!!

Here's why:

1) Local elected officials are are absolutely responsible when they vote to raise property taxes by adopting a tax rate higher than last year's effective tax rate (also called the "no-new-revenue" rate), and...

2) The Texas government is absolutely (and ultimately) responsible because it authorized the local governments to enact these outrageous property tax hikes.

The Big Beautiful Bill provided funding for DHS to expand housing for illegal aliens facing deportations.

Under former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, 11 detention facilities were purchased.

Under Secretary Markwanye Mullin, 7 of those 11 have been sold or reallocated for purposes.

Mass deportations aren’t happening because Mullin is standing in the way.

From @dallasnews: "On social media Friday, state Rep. Brian Harrison, R-Midlothian, posted a screenshot of a UNT Libraries webpage advertising the collection and suggested that taxpayer money was being used to fund “transgender indoctrination” at the public university.  

By Saturday, the webpage about the archival collection led to an error message. 
In a post, Harrison took credit for the site’s removal. He also called on UNT to “end the program, not just a website.” 

“It needs to be gone,” he said in an interview Tuesday, referring to the collection. “The Texas government has no business whatsoever using tax dollars to promote the transgender agenda.” 

The webpage’s removal marks the latest instance of Harrison’s social media crusade to eradicate LGBTQ topics at Texas universities. 

Harrison’s post last year of a Texas A&M University professor discussing gender identity in her course led to the professor’s firing and the university president’s resignation. The incident brought increased scrutiny to state universities, spurring course content reviews at multiple universities, including UNT, and new restrictions on classroom content related to race and gender. 

On Tuesday, Harrison said he had communicated with UNT “over their liberal indoctrination” before his posts last week. When he found the webpage, he was “incensed because I had assurances that this kind of stuff was going to stop, and the fact that it wasn’t upset me.”
