Monday morning was slow until we hit the trail with “The Amazing Tree ID Race” with Gr 6 @murraybears1967 “that was the most fun I have been had on a field trip!” was overheard 😁we knew that 🌲 🌳 ID was super fun!

In May to July, emerald ash borer (EAB) adults emerge from the bark of ash trees, creating D-shaped exit holes. Help prevent the spread of EAB to reduce long-term impacts:

- Learn how to identify EAB
- Don't move firewood
- Report sightings

Invasive species and ecosystems were the focus of our Grade 7 day @brighton_kprdsb Game models and actual removal of some invasive species, garlic mustard and LDD Moth eggs. Discussed Emerald Ash Borers a lot! Thanks for caring and putting some muscle into it! @kprschools

Today, on EARTH DAY, we found an enemy of our local earth…. An Emerald ash borer adult! We have a piece of an infested tree that had to be taken down because of this invasive insect on display. This beetle completed its lifecycle and came out to meet some grade 3’s.

On Thursday we practiced the “there is no bad weather, only bad clothing” rule and had a great time in the soggy forest with gr 1 @murraybears1967 spring sensory exploring, shelter building, bird calling (Cheeeeeeese bur-ger) and aquatic insect sorting!
